Eyeglasses, Valentines, and the ER

All I wanted was to go pick up my new glasses.

However, I do not have a membership at the store they were at, and could not get in by myself. The friend who originally was going to take me canceled, and I found another friend, who I will call Nina, who could go. And since the store was in the viscinity of another store that she needed to go to, another girl, who I will call Betty, came along as well.

As we were driving, Nina anounced suddenly that she was feeling sick, but not car-sick. She had had a migrane the previous night. We stopped at one store and Nina ran in to get something she needed, and when she came out, she was visably worse. So we stopped at another store and Nina went to the restroom while Betty and I went and looked at clothing while we waited.

Nina came out a few minutes later, considerably worse, shaking, unable to speak beyond a heavy stutter, and breathing hard, and announced that she needed to go to the ER as she was having an allergic reaction to some medication she was taking. The medication was in the same family as another that had put her in the ER previously.

So Betty and I drove her to the ER, and waited, her boyfriend showed up after a few minutes. After about 45 minutes she came out looking a lot better, having recieved a benadryl iv. So we all drove back across town and picked up my glasses.

Not quite the plans I had for Valentine's Day...

I haven't heard back from her yet today though, and she's not in class. I'm going to drop by her place later to see if she's okay.

I figure many soon-to-be fathers would have to do that once in their lifetime.

Yes indeed, there are snow storms in May... Wyoming is like that. Montana too. Last April we had a foot of snow in April. And more for several days afer that.

I'm glad she's okay as well. She has an appointment tomorrow to see if they can find a medicine that she isn't allergic to that will work for her.
