Unfortunately I'll be seperated from my valentine this year but naturally, my thoughts and prayers are with her.

I dont really care much for valentines day. I let my wife know I love her all year long... Not just one day...

I'm waiting for the day after Valentine's. That's the day all the candy goes on sale.

Comrades, valentine's day is a capitalistic, self-indulgent holiday. For my valentine's day, I shall march proudly sporting the soviet flag outside my local Walmart. You all should do the same!

I don't really care for Valentine's Day. It's depressing when you're single because you see all these couples around... yeah...

I just remind myself that whenever I'm praying (me or anyone else), you're praying to a single 33 year old adult.

So I'm not too worried about looking for a girlfriend or getting married or anything of that matter.

oh yeah, It's also Arizona's birthday too.
Arizona was founded into the US in February 14, 1914 (or something like that).

man, u guys are just depressing.

^ LoL. good idea carneman, but the truth of the matter is that alot of us are cynical and miserable. ;) but...s'ok. i agree with the person who said they're waiting for v-day candy to go on sale. discount chocolate? heck yes! (all i need is more acne, but hey..at least it's stress relief. ^_^;;)

Well, I'm busted up and unhappy because I'm in the wrong country to be getting the chocolates!! Yeah, that's another thread, too.

Actually, I like getting an annual reminder that I am one lucky dude and need to tell my wife that I know how lucky I am.

But to all the depressed ones... nobody ever goes through Valentines day "alone." Hang in there. I was right there with you, once, and I'm confident you'll be telling some other young folks the same thing, some day.

Discount Chocolate! And USSRGirl's idea has good merit: I bet marching outside Walmart with a Soviet flag would reduce the volume of candy bought there on Valentine's day leaving more for me to buy the next day!

That thread wasn't for not caring about Valentine's Day, it was for not caring about being single on Valentine's Day. Big difference. ;)

Seven cheers for people content in singleness!

"Hip hip hooray!"x7

Seven cheers for people who have someone!

"Hip hip hooray!"x7

Seven cheers for an abundance of candy and chocolate!

"Hip hip hooray!"x7

Oh- and uh- seven cheers for the Soviet Union, and our glorious motherland!

"Hip hip hooray!"x7

But what if they got you red roses? It supports the struggling masses working in the florist shop so that one day they might break their capitalistic pig slavedrivers in two with their new-found empowerment. And besides, they're roses! And they're red! Stick a card in it that says, "This card Marx my love for you" and that's dictator romance right there.

This reminds me. Our pastor had a wonderful children's sermon theme yesterdy for Valentine's day. The old testament lesson had been the story of Na'aman and Elisha, and the Gospel was one of Jesus' leprosy healings. The pastor had told the children that the Israelite slave girl had given Na'aman a "Valentine" by telling him where he could find a cure, and how Elisha and Jesus had given Valentines to the lepers they healed (by healing them), and finished by suggesting that the children are "giving Valentines" to everyone they give help to, and bring God's love to.
Maybe a slight stretch as a metaphor, but I think he did a good job with it.

*nods* I shall hate the holiday till I'm not single on that day! I want my giant stuffed animal! :sniffle:

Keh, doesn't count this year even if I get to spend the day with the guy I like I know he doesn't like me, so it's not like I'm spending it with him anyways :/

I am... apathetic.

Sure, I'm single (again) on valentines day... and of course, the world is going to flaunt that in my face... but let's put that info aside and concentrate on more important things:

1) Even though I work at Blockbuster and couples are going to be flooding the store that night looking for a romantic movie to watch... I'll be working in the morning, so I don't have to deal with it.

2) I'll be in class in the evening, so I really don't have to put up with it.

3) I'm already in love with the One who will never cease loving us all.

Therefore, let's not concentrate on whether or not we have a significant other to spend the day with. Instead, let's remember the love of God. Let's spend Valentine's Day with Him. Sound like a plan?

I, for one, am VERY happy that it's Valentine's Day. I do not have a boyfriend, and I am not sadistic about it nor am I pining over it. I'm celebrating it with my family, and that's good enough for me.

Ouch. How did *that* happen? It seems terribly ironic to have that happen on Valentine's -- was this something set up before?

I'm not happy or unhappy. I don't do anything special on the Day, so it doesn't make a whole lot of difference.

I'm happy because it's my birthday. Part of me feels a little sad because I don't have someone to be my valentine though. (and I haven't since...kindergarten.)
