Screeeee-*crunch* collision

So, I'm driving down the 605 freeway this morning, and a car comes in off the 10 and merges in at just this side of a dead stop. My brakes make the screeeee and the rest of my car makes the *crunch*. (if you're not staff, you may pretend that there are words here that the staff would rather I not type directly - if you are staff, please do not so pretend)

Anyway, not-so-long story cut painfully short, my car ain't lookin' so hot. In fact, it's looking pretty bad. (It's a '96 Saturn, so between falling bluebook and rising parts cost it might just be considered totaled.)

Fortunately, there don't seem to have been any real injuries, but it's still not a fun experience.

:( That sucketh. Is his insurance going to cover it?

We have lots of drivers like that in our area. I'm surprised and thankful that we haven't been in a major accident -- just an elderly man very gently rear-ending us from a dead stop when his foot slipped off the brake.

I totalled my Honda in med school. They wrote it off. At least it was enough to make the down payment and then some on the '02 Saturn I drive now.

Welcome to my world.

Only in my case, it was an '01 Miata.

Now I drive a '98 Camry.

Being in the rare car of a collision is usually safer. I hope you are OK, but I also hope the guy in front of you is OK. He would be more likely to suffer from wiplash, I would think.

Accidents stink. Hopefully your ok, thats the important thing. And hopefully the cop who was working the scene on yours was not a rookie fool. (I love being told that a paint smear on one persons vehicle is worse then my busted to heck front end)

What a pain. Do you need your car everyday, or do you just need it on occasion?

I live on one side of L.A., and work on the other. I'd say I need it pretty much every day.

Ooh, big-time bummer. Car accidents are never good things, from minor ordeals to totaling your car. Glad to hear you're alright though.

*shakes fist at bad drivers* One almost got me yesterday. :shady:

glad to see you are allright!
i almost got in an accident the other day... because of a jerk of a driver....
(he was going 40 in a 55 zone, so of course, the road's clear and i attempt to pass...but then he slammed on the gas to keep me from getting in front, then the brake to keep me from getting behind, and a car was oncoming by that point...
luckily i have better brakes then he did...)

I used to crash my car into the wall all the time! It was fun! (Of course, it was one of those power wheels that go about 6mph. )

I remember when I was in a minor fender bender when I was going to a Third Day concert. My youth pastor was driving me and the son the our pastor for the church. If I hadn't looked up and saw the BMW that cut in front of us, we would have been ing major trouble. However, we got hit instead. <sigh>

Missed a little of the beginning of the concert. Everyone was ok including the driver behind us (although he shouldn't have been driving... points already against his license...) >.<
