Can someone tell me what this is? It looks like some kind of burning coil... Is it scented or something? What's the deal?
I took these screencaps from the J-drama "Stand Up!!" Chiye (this girl) puts it in Shohei's (this boy she likes, and happens to be living with temporarily) room while he's supposedly asleep. He wakes up, and they have some kind of short conversation, which I don't understand because the subtitles are so bad. Lol. Well anyway, does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Those are quite popular in the Land of Mosquitoes (Australia).

We use them when camping out. You can get them at most outdoor sporting supply stores.

I remeber those things! When I was a kid my family would use them to keep away mosquitos. They were always fascinating to me when I was kindergarten age, and if I remember correctly they work pretty well in absence of a stiff wind. Never remember using them inside, though.

I use those to keep my discs of Master of Mosquiton in place.

I love using those when I go sit outside of my house on the porch and have a simple chat with my mom or dad. Those coils are very handy.

They could be scented, but I am quite certain that she put it there to get rid of mosquitos. There were a couple of scenes where he got attacked by them in his room, now that I look back. I was unfamiliar with those coils though. Case solved.

eehh? Those never worked for me.
I still had mosquitos biting me. Maybe I was just too good tasting and they could bear the scent of the candles to get to me.

Never worked for me either, and they make everything smell weird.

Heres the one we have at home. You put this little blue square tablet sort of thing inside the center area and plug it in. (I did not take a picture of it because I didn't want to waste any) It heats up the blue thing and creates a nice aroma ^_^ And either kills or repels the mosquitos. (Because I can never find dead bodies in my room) It's all asian-esque and cute and cuddle. We own about 4 of these.

I need one of those. Every time I camp where there are mosquitos, I get eaten alive!

Hey, that's pretty cool, MSP. Mosquito's hardly bother me here. Let me know if you have one that repels spiders. I hate spiders...

Erm, it's probably rude of me to revive my thread like this, but I was wondering; is anyone familiar with this? (pic below) It looks like you put your noodles in the water and they spin around. I don't really know what it's for though... (also taken from the j-drama "Stand-Up!!")
