Do you wear a seat-belt?

I was wondering how many of you guys and girls wear seat-belts? They are put in cars for our protection (suprisingly effective in accidents). Seat-belts are compulsary here in Australia, but I find it suprising that the U.S (or at least most of it, among other countries) doesn't make them compulsary, and then they wonder why so many people die or are injured badly.
So do you wear a seatbelt?
Please indicate in the poll which option best describes you and then post what you chose and what country you are from. This purely for interest, I'm curious.
I'll begin. I have voted - Always. I'm from Australia

I know in CA there is a hefty fine if you are caught in a car (driving or passenger) without a seat belt.

Good to hear seatbelts are to be worn there. By the way, what is CA? California? I'm not good with abbreviations. Thanks!

I never used to, then I wrecked my car and put both knees into my dashboard. Now I almost always buckle up when I am driving.

I try to wear my seatbelt as much as possible. I forget sometimes, but mostly I don't.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the seat-belt were a U.S invention?
(Nice to see we have lots of intelligent drivers/passengers at CAA).

Here in Virginia, not wearing your seatbelt carries a HEAVY fine, and there's no talking your way out of it either. I always wear mine, and would even if there wasn't a law against it.

In South Africa, if you don't wear a seat-belt in December (the summer-holiday season) you could end up in jail and / or a heavy fine. Because thousands die on the roads here during the holidays the government takes incredible steps to help curb it.

It's the law here. There are even commercials on TV telling you how you can get two tickets, if you're pulled over for speeding and are not wearing a seatbelt.

It happens without thinking...except when I'm driving my car, because the buckle is hard to get it to 'click'. Then I have to think about it.

I always wear one. And I've never lived in a state where wearing a seatbelt wasn't required by law, so from what I'be seen most states here do require them.

I wear one all the time. I'm especially thankful for them when I'm driving with my dad. . . he doesn't realize that it's not so bad taking that corner like that from the FRONT seat, while everyone in the back slams into the window or. . . other people.
Yay seatbelts!

i put always, because i always wear a seatbelt unless we're trying to fit like 10 of my friends in our van (then i opt to ride in the back)
it's just common sense (and one of my family's vehicles automatically does the seatbelt, so it's not optional in that one
)

I'm another American who always wears their seat belt.
-On a side note: I believe Volvo in Sweden was the first to invent seat belts...

I voted...other o.o wow, i'm the only one to vote anything but yes.
definitely believe in wearing a seatbelt, and yea I try to. However, it becomes difficult when you're riding in someone else's car and you can't find the seatbelt 'cause it's buried under the seat, or the seatbelt is BROKE, or my personal favourite.....because there's 6 or 7 people piled into a tiny little car(gotta love college
) Tried that one a week or so ago...crazy. In those instances, you just have to pray. *shrug* Yet to find a better solution.

It is my understanding that seatbelts are compulsory in all states+DC. (DC isn't technically a state)
If anyone knows a state where they aren't...

I always wear a seatbelt if it is at all possible. It feels weird if I don't, actually. I've been in friends' cars before who don't have a working seatbelt in the seat I'm in and it is always a bit anxiety-inducing.

I always do, part of my less than concious routine when I get in a car
. Here (AZ, US) the fine is not that heavy, or at least it wasn't last time I checked. Somewhat relatedly, one of the darwin awards from last year was someone that advocated not wearing a seat belt.
