I was just interested to know if anyone besides me is planning on getting up early tomorrow to fight the shopping crowds? And before anyone asks, yes, I probably am insane. ^^

Not likely as I want to enjoy my day-off, rather than fight the crowds.

I wouldn't call you insane - probably "devoted" is a better word. :)

You ARE insane. o.o

But no, it ain't worth it for me. There isn't a decent mall within 30 miles of where I live in Virginia. -.-

I was telling my grandma earlier...

I'd LOVE to go to after Thanksgiving sales. But not to shop. To take pictures of people getting into fights. <3

Seeing two old ladies fighting over the last care bear or whatever could be interesting, but I've never actually seen one. Have any of you ever seen a shopping fight? ^^; I don't intend to fight anybody....because I plan to be the first in line! Well, at least for Best Buy. Although I did joke and tell my mom I was gonna take my nunchucks with me tomorrow. lol ^^

Family Guy Season 3 for 15 bucks at Circuit City.
Expect to hear about a guy beating up old ladys on the news.

200 Hundred dollar laptops too, not as cheap as the $50 Macs but at least I wont get mauled getting one.

Although I fully agree that you are insane...the deals are awesome! I work 9:45-6:15 tomorrow...it is going to be CRAZY busy, too....but, I intend to do a tiny bit of shopping myself....maybe....
anyways...have fun and PLEASE have patience with those of us who work behind the counters.....it isn't easy moving lines sometimes...especially during this time of year...patience tends to run REALLY thin!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Black Friday is EVIL. I truly admire you. I would never be able to wake up early enough for that, and I definitely would go crazy with all the people running around.

They call it that because it's still historically the most profitable day in national retail sales and so everyone ends up in the "black" -- hence Black Friday.

My mom and my baby sister are probably hitting the malls as we speak.

As for me, I got up early this morning to go to work. :shady: (But I finished my Christmas shopping weeks ago, so there.)

wow...I definitely give you props that you're already done iwth your christmas shopping. I actually haven't begun...I dread this time of year because I work retail. I am actually already up because I have to be to work in a little over an hour. EVERYONE works today....because, it IS the biggest shoppping day of the year. If I didn't work, I would avoid the mall altogether!

now that i finally woke up again, after basically staying up for 2 days solid:
me and some friends went out to bst buy in 0 F weather at 2:00 in the morning, in bitter wind and while it snowed....and there were 60 people in front of us... but i got my happy microwave... (i just went for the fun, basically)
the sat bart was that the store got like these huge security guards with bullhorns, and there was an amblence and two cops just sitting in the parking lot so no one got into any fights.... they just ruined the christmas shopping season...

Well, I went shopping this morning and.....I'm still alive! I had fun though. I didn't get up too early; I decided I needed to sleep later than 3AM. ^^; I was in line at BestBuy for at least an hour, but I didn't see any fights...or start any. lol One of my friends, whose mom works at Wal-Mart, called and said that there was a riot at Wal-Mart over some computers though.

I see the ads for Sunday have absolutely NO mention of the Xbox 360... so I'm guessing it will be awhile before they are back in stock.

I wonder how bad the riots would be WITH them in stock.

Yeah, there was some scrap over the laptops they were selling. Really stupid -- even for PCs ;) they were not particularly good deals, I thought. It may have been cheap, but the components were pretty shoddy.

Some of these $200-300 computers involve AOL rebates... you need to sign up to get the rebate to get the price down

That may be why the suits call it that, but it's not why we retail employees call it Black Friday. It's probably the most difficult day in all retail. Huge waves of customers mobbing the store buying all kinds of cheap items that give little or no commission, people being impatient and fussy about merchandise that quickly goes out of stock, having to work early or late hours..... Yeah. It is not fun for any of us.
