Expectations

Have you guys ever noticed that the more you expect something to happen, it often never does? And even if your expectations are correct, they often don't happen exactly as planned?

Such an example of this would be anticipating certain exams. I often study as much as possible, but with the expectation that the test to be brutal two weeks before I take it. It turns out later that the test was far from difficult and wondered why I had been anxious and worried about something that I was totally uncertain about (the teacher never gave us the scope beforehand).

I guess such a thing can apply to most things in life (especially the weather). It's good to plan out certain events, but to "expect" the outcome usually requires the gift of seeing the future.

And we all know that all of us aren't born with that gift. ;)

This is the exact reason why I try not to worry about something. I used to invest my time and emotions in something that wasn't even worth the worry.

The saying "Live for God: Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" and verses Phillippians 4: 6-7 help me to place things in perspective.

You mean jinxing? I don't think so.
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

Sort of. Except that you sometimes expect a certain event to happen whether or not you can control it.

That's why I ignore people who tell me I shouldn't be so pessimistic. Man cannot foil God's plans, so my expectations cannot affect future events.
