Getting rid of manga/DVDs
PostPosted: Tue Nov 15, 2005 4:29 pm

xD; I'm not sure where this should go. I hope general works. ^_^; ...but, uhm, before I start...mods, I'm NOT trying to sell anything, so don't worry. =3
I am, however, trying to save up some money to get this beautiful doll I saw earlier this week. ^_^; I absolutely fell in love with him, because he looks exactly like one of my characters.
Unfortunately, he's a tad expensive...and I'm already curbing my spending in order to save money for him. But Kokoro, being the impatient little imp she is, still wants to find other ways to make money. I can't get a job right now because I'm taking night classes in addition to going to school regularly, so I was thinking of selling some of the DVDs and manga I don't want anymore.
I'm really unsure how I should go about this, though. I sort of want to avoid eBay, because they charge a fee to sell, and I think it'd be a pain to keep relisting things that don't sell (which I predict to be about 90% of my stuff. XD; )
Are there any other methods I could possibly use to sell my things? ^^;

Yard sale or a lot of places buy used media.

Nah I don't recommend yard sales for DVDs and manga because you won't get much for them. Yard sale hunters are looking for cheap stuff.
Try a pawn shop.

Pawn shops won't pay you much either. Try a local EB games. They might buy em.

EB games, and some media retailers like the Wherehouse. Those might be good picks.

Sell them on this mb? :p It IS an anime based bored, maybe someone on here might want too? More trustworthy with Ebay since we aren't total strangers on here^^
...just a suggestion...

We aren't Allowed.
I wonder why we can't sell stuff here...huh. Ah well. *shrugs it off and goes to find something to do*

I think we can't sell anything here because the mods don't want to be responsible for any bad transactions that might take place due to someone selling on this site. Or something like that.
Anyways, I was considering GameStop...but $2.50 for a Trigun DVD...? What a rip. >_>;

Oh yeah just made me remember that at least EB Games Canada, now only buys ALL DVDs for only about $3 CAN... before I remember the prices were generated differently :/ Mhe I had to get rid of the second copy of my Escaflowne movie DVD and helped put a bit of money towards a game.

Impatience or not, I doubt you'll get enough for all the used goods to make that much of a difference.

I figure it's not going to get me even half the way there, but I HAVE been meaning to do something about all the stuff I don't want anymore. And right now anything's better than what I've got right now - which is zippo.

I know there's a fee on eBay, but you stand a better chance of making a decent amount there then you do at a place like GameStop. Those second hand stores will only give you a couple of bucks, but eBay can make you more.
You get one re-list for free. If it doesn't sell after you're second try, then sell it to GameStop.

That's an interesting idea. I've been considering selling mine but was afraid of what would happen for the no sell items.
Of course I worry about the 1 bid items where you end up selling for $0.99

I'd say ebay's your best bet... .__.;

That's correct. A secondary reason is that it might be abused by less savoury people more interested in selling than participating. Either way, for sale ads here are strictly out.

I am not sure, but if things were bought and sold here, the Gov might want to start taxing us and that would be no good. I am not sure if that is it, but it might be a factor as to why it isnt allowed.

It's not really that since we wouldn't be taking anything off the top. Regardless, we have other reasons for saying no (see above).

I belive Ebay takes a cut of what you make on the sale. And while I do know people who have enjoyed selling on Ebay...I always felt it was a bit of a ripoff. I prefer buying on Ebay. Your best bet is trying to sell it to an EB or another electronics place at a mall or somthing.

I'd be interested in knowing the names of the titles you are planning on
selling.Could you PM me with a list?
If there's anything I find of interest I might be willing to buy from you.
But as I said please PM me so that neither of us gets in trouble.

Triny, here's where the eBay fees are laid out:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html
AnimeHeretic, if you're not willing to sell something for $0.99, make your starting price the minimum you'll take for it. You set the starting price (but you pay the fee depending on how much your starting price is, as well as the final value).

roughly 75% of my collection so give me a day or two to consolidate everything.

I like selling on eBay. ^__^ But I don't sell much manga or anime there.
There is a 25 cent listing fee if you list the start price for approximately 95 cents or under. I think that lower starting bids help people to bid. I just add the fees and some profit if I want to onto the shipping and handling charge. (It is part of handling.)

While not that bad, I have seen some obscene S+H charges... which is why I won't do business with people who won't say up front what the charges are.

Pilot Candidate was one of the shows that used to be on CN a long time ago
wasn't it?

Yeah, it was. Better known as Megami Kohousei or the Canidate for Goddess. (I have no idea why they changed it...)

Maybe not but it
is worth a shot.
Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of options...You could try selling it to a DVD site like
http://www.dvdempire.com, I think they probably will take any DVD's that are in good condition. You could ask information on there. (sorry if it wasn't okay to post a direct link like that but I wasn't sure, if so, sorry mods. ^^;;;)
PM for more ideas, okay? Cause I'm not to sure it's okay to post them out in the open...
