Seriously, sometimes I hear the WEIRDEST things on the news etc. Well after reading through animenewsservice.com (which states almost any Japanese related news with anime, manga, misc Japanese,) I came across this...
"The Mainichi reports that at about 8:00PM on the 25th a man sprayed a liquid with a foul odor on a 15 year old schoolgirl who was leaving school in Sapporo City's east district. The girl was slightly injured by the attack, in which her mouth and eyes bcame red and swollen. The Sapporo Azuma station is investigating it as an injury case. Part of the sour smelling liquid soaked into her clothes. The police station sent the clothing to the crime laboratory on the 26th, and is examining the elements of the liquid in detail."
...I'm sorry but did this REALLY need to make headlines on the Japanese MSN website?! It's just plain werid! So why did I post this? I'm just really surprised that what makes headlines these days (plus the wording makes it sound like a big crime or somethin.) If it's not yet ANOTHER earthquake in Japan, it's men spraying strong odors on girls :/ *scratches head* I thought only cats etc. marked their teritory :/

Well, I guess that it IS assault, and plus if they don't know what the liquid is yet then it might be something worse than it seems. I don't think it's front-page worthy, but I do think it is worth mentioning. . .

I want to know if the men with the butterfly nets took the guy away. That's a weird way to tell a girl you like her! Keep us updated, k?

Well, since this happen in Japan. That is a big crime to them, they have crime, but nothing that big like we do in the US or Canada.
I remember the time that a men in Japan ran from the cops in a car and people were line out in the street to watch this happen.

Yeah... the country with some of the most violent shows (eg. insert name of any violent anime here) and yet, not too too much crime (or at least that they show in the media...)
Well at least I remember one thing in Sociology that's true: "correlation does not create causation" :/ Although there was this ONE headline I read about a kid that attempted/did murder a family member because of some of the ideology he picked up from Evangelion, but lets not get into that^^

They don't show Japanese prisoners. There are quite a few foreigners in Japanese prisons making autoparts, cell phones, for about a dollar a day. Technically they can't do prison labor for outside contractors. Very rigid prison system, quite a few abuse scandals involving beatings with stun batons, solitary confinement for refusing to do labor, sitting in fixed positions for 10 hours a day, that kind of thing.

Wow, that is really interesting. Did you see this happen? I'd be frightened to stand in the street and watch something like that...

It was on TV one time here in the US on one of those cops car chases show.
Some of the people even ran after the car with anything that they could carry and try to stop the car.
In Japan, its dis-honorable to ran from the law.

I think that comment has pretty much closed this thread. Ingemar, that was not necessary and highly inappropriate, and it's just going to make people ask what it is, which we don't need to discuss. For those curious, it's a obscene practise in Japanese porn, and nothing more will be said on the matter.
