What are some experiences you all have had about meeting an internet correspondent in real life? Did it totally suck the glamour out of the ordeal, or was it awesome?

The only onlie people who I have met in real life are Shattrheart and Lightbringer. It was really neat gettin a face and voice to connect to the words. It puts new context into all of the posts I read by shatterheart (I didnt talk to Lightbringer as much). Anyway, I realy enjoyed it, and hope to see him again next year. Hooray for soulfest!

I was playing a MMORPG at one point and made an ingame friend and his bro. He asked what state I lived in and it ended up we were in the same one.
So we met at a store* and played a lan tourney. Was small, but the ones in the future got bigger, was fun. They crushed me tho. =(
* For anyone who's young and wants to meet someone from online, this part is critical, because believe it or not, stalkers do exist, and you're intensely stalkable, among other things.

I met Kae and SpoonyBard in real life. It was cool. But then SpoonyBard and I randomly met at a Project 86 concert. That was so wierd because it was completely unplanned. Someone tapped me on the shoulder, I turned around, and there he was. That was actually cooler than when we had planned it.

Met Ingemar, Sir Thinks2Much, MSPilot (^^; can't remember your new user name, I so sorrie), JaltusBot, Kaligraphic, NightshadeX, ikimasu, and shooraijin at AnimeExpo 2005 and it was a freakin' blast. Nothing like watching Ingy get hit on by old men.

Best not to.
So far, I have made many pleasant RL acquaintances and friends from here.
(I know Mithrandir, spiritusvult and EireWolf from long time back, and The Silence, so they're in a different category.)

We've had this topic before, but this has a slightly different flavor, so I actually have something new to post.
I have personally met Mithrandir, Eirewolf, Psycho Ann, Psycho Jess, and SpiritusVult. The experiences overall varied, due to how well I know them before and how long I actually spent with them. By large they were essentially like I expected them to be (as I knew people act slightly differently online and considered accordingly), but it was still great to meet them. One major change is that I now have a specific face in mind when I think about them.
Psycho Jess and SpiritusVult are slightly different cases, in that I didn't really know them beforehand. With Jess it was pretty much just like meeting someone new, but with SpiritusVult I now read his posts with more interest due to the prior human connection.

I've meet Turbocat, Gypsy, Lightbringer, Shatterheart, ShiroiHikari, Inkhana, Calbhach, Uri-pea (actually he goes to my home church XD; ), Keely, and all of those experiences were very, very positive. We all had a blast and it was never awkward--it's like we had really known each other for a long time. Soon Kkun will be rocking the Lone Star state so when he does we'll hang out for a week. I think that'll be awesome, too.

I met Blitzkrieg and Steve Racer at Animazement this past year but it was pretty much just in passing. They were busy with their work and I with mine. Seemed to be great people though.

I know two of the members here personally, since they're local. I've met another one, and it was a very positive experience. We interacted face to face pretty much the same way we did online.
I'm definitely going to meet two more of them in January, since they're moving here xD I'm planning on those being positive experiences as well.

I've known Lightbringer and Shatterheart for quite a few years anyway, and I've met Ashley before, too.
OH! And I've talked to Gypsy before, too! She's a we-
(tree randomly falls, blocking out the rest of the word)
(And for those of you that didn't know, Gypsy is my sister. So yes, I can make fun of her as much as I want. w00t.)

(The only people on here that I've met and know I've met are Raiden no Kishi and Mystery. I've known Mystery since before I even knew about forums, so she doesn't count.)
(I knew Rai-sama over the internet, at first. We were both members of the forum Homeschooldebate.com (some of you probably have heard me talk about it), and on January 25th, 2004, (yes, I remember the exact date. It was a very memorable day) "Bug Ree Day" was declared. Rai-sama and I PMed each other for at least an hour, him trying to annoy me. Needless to say, we had a great time. I then met him at the Florida Open in Ft. Myers sometime last spring. The meeting wasn't all that interesting. It was 9-10 am during registration, I saw him, read his name tag, realized, "Oh! It's Debater X!" (which was his screen name on HSD at the time) Walked up to him and introduced myself. And even then I didn't talk to him much (mostly because of my inherent shyness), I didn't get to know him that well 'till Regionals.)

I met Lunis twice in real life, once at her house and once at mine. It was awesome, but really weird at first, since mostly I'm shy but I'd known her for approxiamately forever beforehand. She claims I hid behind my mom. Don't listen to her, it's a lie. XDD

I've had good experiences and bad experiences. Just like with anything else, it depended on the person. Sometimes I had the right impression about them, sometimes they weren't quite what I expected.

I haven't met anyone so far.Does anyone else live in the Spokane area?
In any case I hope I have a good enough imagination to try to imagine what
Sao_Sakura would be like if I met her.

I've met Jaltus-bot (ore no imouto) IRL, but I knew her in person before either of us were online.
I met K. Ayato at Anime Expo and a few times after that - pretty cool. Also on the rolls of people I met at AX are SirThinks2Much (Bishoujo Death), Kokoro Daisuke (Ichinomiya Kantaro), Ingemar (Kuroneko), NightshadeX (w/shinai), Mechana2015, Ikimasu, and Shooraijin (at dinner). I think that's everyone from the CAA that I've met.
It wasn't particularly "glamourous" or "anti-glamourous" - just meeting people with whom I have some level of familiarity already.

ONce when I was talking with my friend about this site. I was telling him I'd recently joined a Christian Anime site he would like and he told me e was a member already! Turns out we'd even recently posted in the same thread, it was quite funny.

well...
when i was in HS i gave my aim name to my friend who was deaf. and he gave it to this guy named Fadean. Fadean went to school with me, and i started talking to him in general because him and i both love martial arts. So we were going to spar at school.... but i didnt want to spar him. When him and i went home we talked more. Now he is my husband.
I guess my experiences were good... i usually dont talk to people i dont know now on the internet. Unless, they talk to me. Then i find out who they are so i know what guards to put up. But overall it has been an ok experience.
