if someone has never seen or never knew what a ghost was, would he be afraid of ghostS? im just wondering if people just develop fear inside them. maye people just become afraid of something because of hearing other people being afraid of this and that.

Yes, I think that people learn fear. A little kid doesn't know not to touch a hot stove, until he gets burned or someone tells him what will happen if he does. Same with ghosts.
Of course, there's the question, where did fear itself originate. But that's more philosophical.

however, many young kids have fear when their parent's leave them with a babysitter, etc. which is based probably on not having their providers providing for a span of time.. so all fear is not learned, but is related to thier survival as well... (although one may argue that fear of death is not always in all people... hmmm)

In movies, I noticed they used the quote on "people fear what they don't understand", a lot... think that was when I watched X Men actually, and I think it makes sense for the most part. People don't understand ghosts or the afterlife, so they fear it. But fear is also caused by bad and dangerous experiences too.

I remember watching this show were they did some kind of experiment about fear and ghosts. They got a group of people and showed them two different underground tunnel areas were they used to keep prisoners. The researches told them both of the tunnels had "suspected ghosts" but in reality one one of them had suspected ghosts. The people had to go in the complete darkness.
The researches found that in the tunnel that had much more empy space, the people stated they experienced another presence such as a ghost. This was the tunnel that didn't actually have a history of suspected ghosts. In the much smaller underground tunnel that had much more prisoner deaths and reports of ghost, not many people said they felt a ghost presence or anything.
I guess the point is, a lot of our fear has to do with our minds.

Oh goodness, it's been awhile. I want to say I saw it on discovery channel or maybe sci-fi. I'm leaning towards the discovery channel.
But it's interesting to see how large empty spaces can really cause people to feel ghost presence or make people feel differently

If I'm in a dark tunnel with only like a few dim lights on my mind gets jumpy and automatically tells me to have my guard up. Usually I think, "What if a demon appears here?" or "I
have to get
out of here right now!" It usually is your mind playing tricks on you. But that was when I was younger, now I'm more like, "God, help me, please help me find a way out!" or "Lord, please help me to not be afraid, I know your there so I
will not be afraid!" This helps a lot because I know that God is right there protecting me, so I have absolutely
nothing to fear even if I were surrounded by demons. Ghosts
are demons though. Because when you think about, they are just the same as demons. That doesn't mean we should fear them, afterall, God is right there to take those fears and ghosts away if we simply rebuke them. Have confidence in the Lord, don't let fear take advantage of you. When your with God, there is absolutely nothing in the world you should fear besides God Himself.
(Sorry if that came off weird, I don't mean to be all preachy, so sorry if it sounded like that.)
