My mom just got back from the store with three new cases of ginger beer. (We luvz teh ginger. ^_^) Me and my sister just started drinking some, and she said hers tasted funny. I took a sip... To my surprise.. It was the distinct flavour of ROOT BEER! Another strange thing: It had no label... But the cap was CLEARLY marked "GINGER BEER" the same as mine, which was in fact, ginger beer.
I went downstairs and checked the other bottles. The case I drank from was all normal.. But the case my sister drank from, had two other bottles with missing labels. It's logical to assume that they also contain rootbeer.
SO! Do you think this is just a factory mix-up, OR!!! Could it be an evil plot to repackage bottles with POISON!!!??? Maybe someone ripped the label off some rootbeer bottles, put ginger beer caps on them, and returned them to the store?!?!?

If it's a factory error, they might be worth money on eBay as a collector's item. Mix-ups that make it to consumers are fairly rare, from what I know.
Might want to hang on them, just in case.

Hmm... But how will I know for SURE wether they have rootbeer in them? I can't, without openeing them, and then they lose a lot of value.
I guess I could say that if they have ginger beer in them, that they can get a refund.. But then they could just say that it had ginger beer and get a refund after drinking it. ;_;
Thanks for the advice though. =)
Edit: Oh, I knew it was a factory error really, I was just being silly. ^_^

What was the color of the supposedly ginger beer? Was it dark like root beer or lighter in color as a typical ginger beer would be?

Alice is right. Wait a month, then post the whole story on eBay. The fact that you don't KNOW what it is will make it more likely worth money. So yeah, I'd say don't open them.

Its probaly filled with a memory eraser chemical to erase your memory of a crime you witness
or could just be like you said a factory mistake.

The very best way I can think of to describe it is as a stronger version of ginger ale with a very sharp aftertaste. *shudders* The rest of my family likes it, and I would too -- except for that aftertaste. @__@;

Melody Maker, have you tried different brands of ginger beer? Some have a super strong aftertaste (the "burn"), and some barely have any aftertaste at all. It all depends on the brand you drink.
I realized that I could look at the color through the dark brown glass bottles after I had posted here. There WAS another root beer mixed in with the ginger beers... BUT MY MOM WOULDN'T LET ME SELL IT ON EBAY!
Someone else drank it.
Ginger beer isn't alcoholic. It's like how root beer isn't alcoholic. Ginger beer is a soda type drink made with ginger. Some brands make it VERY strong (YES! BURN!) some make it very mild. I love ginger beer. It's good for you when you're sick because of the ginger in it. ^_^
