What sense could you live without if you were told you had to pick one...
I would say hearing//// i wouldnt be such an insomniac than. I would be able to still do stuff on my own.

Smell for me as well. Although smell does help you taste better. Losing taste completely is too important to me. Taste would be my second choice, though. After that, I would have a very hard time deciding.

If I lost my sight, hearing, taste, voice, etc. I would go crazy. Even loosing my sense of smell would be terrible, but I think that I still would take smell loss over anything else.

Well, a lot of people say I am severely lacking in taste...

i can't smell anyways, so taking it the rest of the way would be no big deal. sight would be cool (for a little bit at least) I used to walk around for hours on end with my eyes closed when i was 12.

I wonder what I would be like if I were blind. You hear that many of those blind rely on their other senses more, and their other senses are more developed and at a higher level than those who are not blind are. Because they train the skills and don't rely on sight anymore....
Touch choice... I would have to say smell I guess

The harest thing for me about being blind would be that I could never see my family and friend's faces again, I could only hear their voices. That would drive me into an depressed emotional break down.

It wouldn't bug me to loose smell as much as the others because I live in the city and all I smell up here is pollution from cars, etc.
I wish I could live out in the country because everything is so much cleaner and prettier up there. I went up to my mom's friend's cabin once and it was so pretty, refreshing and excellent up there. Snow was everywhere, it was cozy and welcoming. I wish I could have stayed up there for a long time.

(I wouldn't mind losing smell. I would break down if I lost hearing, since the way I recognize people best is by their voices, or sometimes even their footsteps (right, Rai-sama? ~_^). It's one of my prides in life to be able to recoginze the little differences in voices when other people would blink and say, "You mean that's not the same person?")

True. I can sometimes recognize voices that other people are confused by. Also the footsteps. My brothers go up the stairs like elephants and my parents slowly walk up the staircase so I can tell exactly who it is.

taste and smell are very closely linked. with out smell the only things cou could taste would be the sensations of sweet, sour, bitter, and salty. Without taste you would still be able to "Smell" the flavor of the food you were eating. Therefor I would give up taste.

You really have to wonder what the people who are born without these senses think about when they hear us talking about this. Provided that they can hear! ^.^

i would lose my voice over anything i could still hear and smell and see but since i dont talk much anyway i'm used to it

You should talk more, it shows people that you are very social! ^_~*
Some people are not as social and that's alright but I'm sure everybody would love to hear you speak more often.
If I lost my sense of taste would that mean that it wouldn't matter if I ate something spicy?
Just curious...

I would have to go with smell. Some smells are nice but I enjoy sight and hearing much, much more. You can easily get someone else to smell something for you if you need to.
I think I'd rather die than be blind or deaf. Also, I could probably live without a sense of taste...it'd probably do me good XD; I eat too much crap. I don't think I could live without a sense of touch though.

I'd say smell but in many cases, like when you're sick, you lose your sense of taste too :/ Since you lose smell, I guess you lose taste too?
All I know is that I would HATE to live without the other three... vision/hearing go hand and hand for me, and touch is acute for girls mostly, but still, taste is a biggy... smell is ok, but there ARE lotsa sick smells out there >_<

The reason that loss of smell affects taste is because the two senses work in tandem.
I would have to say I would give up either taste or smell.

I couldn't possibly live without hearing. Well...I could, but I'd be miserable the rest of my life because I love the sound of music and laughter so much. It'd be absolutely horrible to live without sight....I couldn't enjoy the beauty of nature that God created, like sunsets or twilight at dusk or stars. As far as touch...to hold someone you love and not be able to feel them...that's almost unimagineable too, especially if someone is trying to comfort you by a gentle touch. Besides, one of the things that comforts me most is to snuggle with my cat Chii and feel her fur against my cheek. So I guess I'd either have to do without smell or taste, both of which have their drawbacks. Hm...I love smells like laundry and cologne on a male type person I'm fond of, or the smell of fresh honeysuckles. So...all that to say I think I'd do without taste, if I had to do without one of my senses. Yup.

Either taste or smell. It's tough, because as Raiden pointed out the two work in tandem. But if I could have the other work independently, I'd give up taste. There are so many wonderful smells in this world like a forest in Spring or a salty ocean breeze or wood smoke in the Fall that I wouldn't want to miss. Besides, I could just smell the food and while the smell was still strong in my mind eat it quick.
The sense I'd least like to give up is touch.

can I choose to give up a finger instead?
Anyways it's a hard thing to pick... I would prabably give up smell. It would be hard to cope without hearing or sight.
If I had to choose either hearing or sight. I would give up hearing. At least I know sign language so that would help make it a bit easier.

Hmm.. smelling or touch. I would be completely devastated if I went blind. I'm an artist and a piano player and a writer and (crap now I feel like I'm bragging...) a good student. <.< Being blind would kinda hurt some of that. Being deaf would suck too... I love my music.
I do have a teacher who was blind since birth though. She's the senior English, creative writing, and speech teacher. She uses a special computer that talks so she knows what she's typing and it reads to her. She's a great teacher too. So I guess if I do go blind at least I could still write.

smell: pros: no more smell of gym clothes! public restrooms! bad breath and loads of other horrible things of which there are many!
cons: no more smell of my mom making ginger cookies at christmas...no more smell of my dad's cologne...or the smell of the earth after its rained...
taste: pros: i dunno...
cons: no more tasting good food! argh! that'd be horrible...
too hard. i love them both too much. if i had to i guess it'd be smell. or giving away one of my toes.
