Fairs

A town, city, county or state fair. What type does anyone like to go to. I just attend the county fair where I live because I had to work the volunteer fire and rescue booth to recruit new members for the different fire companies in the county.
One thing attending one is what events or attactions to check out, some like to go on the rides, or see vendors showing products to the crowds or selling food. Watch contest like dancing or tractor pulls.
I enjoyed going to one in Ohio years ago where the county was more of a agriculture type of county so there were alot of farm animals and the buildings to show them in.
Our county fair is more urban so it does not compare to that fair. Our fairgrounds is a old horse racing track where the grandstands burned down years ago. On the grounds a indoor arena was built where basketball and hockey games, trade shows and other events are held.
What have some of you been able to go to?

I go to theme parks like Elitch Gardens and Water World, is that the same as a fair?

Somewhat different--a fair takes place at only certain times of the year. Both have rides, attractions and what-not, but a fair typically has more carnival type rides (i.e. scramblers, ferris wheels) rather than roller coasters.
Personally I like fairs better than theme parks, for a number of reasons:
1) Fairs, usually county ones, are easier to get to.
2) Lower prices of admission.
3) Lower prices of EVERYTHING.
4) Lots of EVERYTHING. (I love shopping at fairs)
5) FARM ANIMALS!
6) Carnival rides. I find them more fun to ride on than roller coasters--less of a wait, and make me dizzy.
7) Lots of special events, such as art contests, concerts, displays, live music...
8) Deep. Fried. Snickers.

Hmm...I don't know if I've ever been to a fair then.
I like theme parks because they're generally safer than fair rides. They usually are all creaky and make me nervous because they aren't built as well. Stuff at theme parks are usually better because they are planted into the ground and not meant to be moved. It makes me feel a little bit uneasy watching the coasters and rides kind of hit a weird bump or take a fast turn. I get a bad feeling about it.
I think I only went to a fair once and that was with my best friend. We went and had a couple of good laughs but as I recall it wasn't as fun as people cracked it up to be. Plus the farm animals were nasty! O~o

Yeah, fair rides aren't really all that safe. But usually I don't think about it. Shame on me.
Last time I was at a fair, though, they had a ton of bunnies. BUNNIES I TELL YOU. Each one BIGGER than the last. I thought they couldn't get any bigger than...
The biggest one was about the size of my cat quadrupled. No, wait, like bull terrier doubled. Dang.

I go to county fairs occasionaly. Usually i just ride the upsidedown boat thingy about 10 times in a row or until they kick me off. It's relaxing, especailly on warm days (so is the scrambler - id did that one about 5 times) But it's also fun to go look around at everything too.

I go to our county fair every year. It's really nothing too exciting but I make sure I ride any new ride. I will NOT get on the ones that don't look too structurally sound.
Oh, and I make sure I share a funnel cake with someone. I can kill those things.
I used to go check out the horses and the bunnies but now it just makes me sad. They all look so miserable.
Our art exhibits are something I try to see every year too. Last year I had something there. I won a total of one dollar. Yaaay. If I remember correctly, that converted into two KitKat bars. Life is good.
