My school is having a Sadie Hawkins dance in about a month.. (I hate this)

I want to go...but I am too scared to ask this guy to go.. I think he likes someone else..and i am TERRIFIED of rejection. Just thinking about it almost brings me to tears.

I have never been an out going person when it comes to the opposite gender.

So.. should I take the risk and ask? Or...just be forever dateless?

If I should..how?

I'd say just go for it and ask him. If you don't then you'll probably just end up regretting it for awhile. There's always a chance he'll say yes, so just go for it. As for how, I'm not sure about that, sorry.

Hope that helped!

Awww, boy do I know how you feel.

First off, it's not the end of the world if you don't as him or even don't go. I'm so incredibly grateful that I did not date or really have much experience with boys until I got into college. Besides, this is how a dance will go: the guys will play cards in the back, and girls will usually dance with one another in big circles. Some couples will be dirty dancing, and others will be nervously swaying back and forth. All in all, not a place I'd want to have my first kiss or anything.

But, if you still think you want to go, then what's the worst that could happen if you ask him? He'd say "no". Is that REALLY so bad? He probably wasn't worth you anyway. =) I know it's a scary thing (I had to ask my own prom date to go), but you CAN do it.

One last bit of advice, little sheepie. Don't let anyone try to pressure you into doing something you don't feel comfortable doing. In the end, this dance probably won't matter, but what you do will. Don't let anyone force you to do ANYTHING, ok? Try to go with some friends and make it a group thang. Just be careful.

I come not with advice, but rather a question of my own. Please forgive my naivety (and for getting off topic)... ^_^;

Seriously, who is Sadie Hawkins?

I know how you feel CR.....for my prom night I asked a friend of mine to be my date but she siad that she was allready going out with some one.....boy did that one hurt....but in the long run I can see why God did not let me have a Date for my prom night....so I just went dateless.....I still had a great time and all. for my advice CR I say you just ask him....if he says no then don't force him....he has his reasons......God has his reasons as well. I am Girlless and still am.......I will never know who will fall into my arms. All you can do is trust in God and let him worry about who will be your date/BF. For that I am here to saport you and to help you if you are hurt. God Bless you CR.

He was the first guy who said "Ask GIRLS out!? Are you kidding!? If the ladies want to go to some freakin' dance we me, they can ask me."

Put all the pressure on us woman. Curse you Sadie!!!!!

. . . No, really, I have no idea who he/she is.

Oh and one more note....No one is forever dateless. God has picked some one out for you. You just don't see it untill he lets you see the person. Untill then have fath, corage, love, and trust on what God has planed out for you. who knows it could be some one on CAA or far away from were you live.

I agree with what everyone has said so far. One thing to consider is that when things are right ahead of us, or right next to us, they seem so important, so big and intimidating. If he says "no," you may feel terrible and that no one loves you, but know this, no matter what happens, God DOES love you. He cares about you. You are his kid. He can see the WHOLE picture. Pray about it and ask his guidance, then just leave it in his hands, and know that whatever happens, God knows what he is doing and he can see farther ahead down the road before you, than you can yourself.

I say go for it! take a chance! but be prepared for the worst. View it as an exercise in futility. Thus, if h eturns you down, you are prepared, and if he accepts, you are pleasantly suprised.

whats a sadie hawkins dance?

Oh and heres a cool quote
Some cool christian guy that was kicked off "The real world" because of his christian views towards sexuality... I think his name was Michael Smith... no was it Matt Smith... something like that wrote:Fear is only temporary, but regret lasts forever

so go ask him

edit: and heres what sadie hawkins is

Wikipedia wrote:Sadie Hawkins was a character in Al Capp's comic strip Li'l Abner. She debuted on November 15, 1937.

She was "the homeliest gal in the hills," and she grew tired of waiting for men to court her. So her father declared a foot race in which unmarried women of the town of Dogpatch pursued the single men. If a woman caught a man, he had to marry her.

High schools across the United States adopted the fictional concept and held light-hearted events during "Sadie Hawkins Day" where girls would ask boys on dates to dances.

Due to its popularity and many fan letters that Capp received, the Sadie Hawkins Day became an annual event in Li'l Abner during November, and remained so for four decades.

The terms Sadie Hawkins and Sadie Hawkins Day remain ingrained in the American lexicon.

There is also a song titled "Sadie Hawkins Dance" written and performed by Relient K. Hot Rod Circuit also does a song called "Sadie Hawkins".

so i guess that answered my question...

I guess it answered mine too; thank you, Mr. SmartyPants. :) (And I don't mean that tongue in cheek... ) I had no idea that the whole idea was based on a fictional character.

*sigh* I'm sorry I have no more advice for you than anyone else has already given you, CR... being rather on the shy side myself, asking a female friend/acquaintance to accompany me to a special event has always been next to impossible -- so I know just how you feel. ;__;

Pray lots about it; and if you get up the courage to ask him, don't feel so bad if he turns you down -- maybe it just means that he isn't the one that the Lord has in mind for you, assuming that He does. :)

Matt. His name was Matt and he was incredibly awesome and I stopped watching The Real World after that because I was so upset that they kicked him off. He was my hero.

CR, I think you should ask him! Is he a good friend of yours? I had to ask my date to prom to be my date, lol.

another cool quote:

John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892) _Maud Muller_ (1856) wrote: For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: "It might have been!"

But, if you live in God's perfect will, you won't have any regrets!

I may be wrong about this, but it is my understanding that in a proper Sadie Hawkins Dance the guys cannot refuse if a girl asks them to go. I don't know if that is they way that yours works, but it might be.

Don't worry about the rejection. If the guy would refuse an invitation from a nice girl to a simple dance, then he is a cad and not worth dating.
