How to reach the rich

Ok, the title might be a little misleading, but I had to choose one so... The question really is, how do you reach (meaning, how do you show them Christ) a group of people who think they have everything?

I asked a wizard this the other day and he said (and mind you, this may not be exactly what he said, but this is how I remember it), "You convince them that they have a need, then fill it."

I honestly don't really like that answer, but what do you people ("people" is my poor attempt and being gender non-specific) think?

I hope I understood your question properly. Some ppl may have everything physical/material-wise but it may help to find out whether they are lacking in spiritual matters such as peace of mind, love, meaning of life...importance things like that, which we cannot buy and are blessings from God alone. I generally pray for God to show me wisdom and guidance and until I understand what He wants to show me, the best way you reach out to them is to be a good and respectable friend.

Some of God's people were amazingly rich and we have no reason to ever contemptuously view rich people in general as such <--- I know I went off a tangent there but yeah, this is something I personally need to work on.

I asked a wizard this the other day

I'm sorry but I'm like, "Umm what?"

The wizard formally known as... you know, if that wizard wants to identify himself, I'll let him.

I like Mithy's answer. Sooner or later, someone who is as rich as anybody rich will still feel like they're missing something...

Mave: Looks like he edited his post (changed his mind), but I think FRWL snuck in there on him. lol. He took me shopping at Costco the other day, and we had lunch on my back patio aftewords - discussing all sorts of matters. I'll let you figure it out from here.

SV:
My friend, you have a certain way of leaving out small details that seem unimportant to you. That sentence was said with a wink toward madison avenue, and a wry acceptance of mainstreem post-modern-evangelism (and the mainstreem nihilism it inspires). A question to ask youself is, "If you are winning souls to Christ, does it matter how you do it?" (I'm not asking the general board; that's a question for Tweb). One point of interest may include, "Is there any data to indicate that some method or other is better that another (in terms of retention), etc."

I recommend bringing it up in Sunday forum and let Charles, Tim and Erin help you process it.

good points, tho I think that there are acceptable and questionable ways to go about winning souls...
