Favorite place

Okay today I had a bunch of thoughts clouding my mind. My schooling, life in general, work stress and a bunch of other things. Anyways my question stems from this, is there a place you goto that helps you calm down, help you think rationally, to be alone or just goto relax?
Although there are many places I could go in Austin, there's this one place called Mt. Bonnel. It's a very beautiful sight looking over part of the Colorodo River (Town Lake). My parents took me there a few times when I was younger and it's probably my favorite place. I still occasionally go there on random off days just to clear my thoughts. Something about looking a beautiful sight helps calm me. Anyways, I may have posted some of these pictures long time ago, but here are a few. The first is a photo of what lay at top, the second is the stairway up the huge hill and the thrid is the view.
So do y'all have a place that y'all goto to think or just get away from people?

That looks like a really cool place, Agasfas. Wow... that is an amazing view; and that stone path looks so beautiful with the surrounding trees. ^_^ Even on a cloudy day it looks beautiful.
What's the significance of the stone in the first picture?
What calms me is setting in the middle of a field full of sheep, listening to the birds and the chickens (and of course the sheep) and just being able to relax. Other than my room, that's my favourite place. But then again, it's not so good in Winter or if it's raining.

Wow those pictures are good ^^
The best place for me has to be Santa Monica Beach, sure the water is polluted like crazy, but it's still relaxing.
Actually there's a awsome spot up north where no crowds gather and the surf is incredible.
You can catch me there when im down or just need to clear my head.

Those are great pictures! I especially like the one with the stairs. Reminds me of Riven... >.>
I used to climb a special tree to get away by myself. But it was hard to read up there. LOL
Usually now I just go to my room or spend time on the computer. But sometimes it's nice to get away outside. (I love the beach for that but don't live close enough.) ^___^
Anyway, great pics!

I agree with everyone else. Those are beautiful pictures!!!
When I need to get away, I get in my car and drive out to the middle of nowhere, find a field, park my car and look at the stars. *thinks* Actually, I think tonight might be a good night for that, lol.
I also really like to walk in the rain.
Nature make me feel very, very close to God, so when I'm upset, I seek solace in His creation.

When I was little I would go to a huge hollow tree that sits on its side. It's situated so that one can sit inside and watch the rain splash down in the pond, or watch the little wild finches fly around.
I don't live there now. My only practical option is to just sit in my room.
Being out at night, whether driving or walking, really calms and energizes me, though. =) A late night drive really brightens my mood, especially when there is music playing. But with gasolene prices...
Yeah. I prettymuch stay in my room and talk on the phone with a friend if possible.

Wow that really looks like a nice place despite its
location. Before I moved, I used to always go to this place on near by lake where an dock once was. It was clear and quiet and offered a wonderful view for sunsets... Not sure If I have any pictures though. <_<
Now I would say my spot is where ever my wife is. ^_^

Nice pics.
For me, it *was* a little fountain behind the branch campus of the college I attend. I'd used to eat lunch there, nice and warm, with the fountain gently cooling the air. Really nice place, hardly anyone else would go there, despite the abundant seating and shade. But now I go to the main campus and as such don't go there anymore.
Now it's the school's computer lab. Heh heh heh.

My grandparents church and the graveyard (weird but true), the farm, our barn, the rose garden at the park, the library, with a book and some tea by the fountain on days when the square isn't busy.

Well, I haven't got a liscense yet, but when I get one and if gas prices go WAY down, there's this place downtown next to a history museum that's been set up as a kind of mini-park. It's got this huge field, and at the end of the field there's a big square area that is concreted and shoots water up different heights-- it's kind of like something you'd see at your average water park. Anyways, the really cool thing about it is that kids come down in their bathing suits and run around and play in it, and you can sit in benches on the sides and watch. It's really soothing because all you can hear are birds chirping and the water and the kids laughing and screaming and having fun. I don't know why it's as relaxing as it is, but it's definitely a nice place to sit to clear your head.

There's actually an engraving on the stone, but the picture doesn't really show all that well.

I too like to look up at the stars. It's always a peaceful feeling

I used to do that too... Until I feel out of a tall tree and broke my arm.
But I agree with some of the others replies. Many times when I feel overwhelmed I too go driving with on real particular place in mind. I sometimes end up all the way out in Round Rock or Pflugerville (right outside of Austin).
THough recentlly I've been going to this coffee shop right off of Lake Austin. I usually get cold coffee or tea (not big on coffee). They have a really big deck and the environment rocks. Occasionally they have a person playing a guitar and singing; very mellow. It's a good place to hang out with friends. Though uaully I only go at night because the temperature is more tolerable.

something about that river picture from agasfas touched me...i dont know why... maybe i should go visit a river. i think any kind of water calms me down. i loose myself to watching it and being in it for hours and hours until i need to like, eat or something. i feel like im connected to it. oceans, rivers, the water running out the garden hose. aside from God, i think it's the thing that makes me feel the most peaceful. odd though, as much as i love the water i cant swim.
and anywhere i can get a good cup of tea im instantly happier.

Yeah, that's why I go there often. For me it's the beautiful sight and the sound of the wind. Also the ocean, waterfalls and springs are cool too. The sound of water flowing or dropping... very peaceful indeed. Kind of therapeutic in a sense.

I know I'm weird, but since I'm an existentialist, my answer will be slightly metaphysical. I go to a place of quiet, where all things become a flowing oneness, and the Lord is there with me.

Welcome to Mt. Bonnel... Maybe... not sure, forgot
But I think it may have some historic statement or dates... or something.
Next time I go I should probably make note of it.

Thank you. I had a disposable camera sitting around so I figured why not. Might as well put it to use.

Agasfas, i am jealous of your quiet place! i really don't have an official place that i go to when i want to get away form people. Really, it's just my room. I wish i had a place though. At night, sometimes i go into our backyard at night and just lay in the grass and gaze at the stars and the glowing moon, and i really love going to Barnes&Noble and the library; but, i wish i had a place more acessable,

Graveyards can be beautiful places; usually in a quiet field, with a few trees... and very quiet. I guess they can feel really peaceful.

When I am mad, stresst out, up set, or lonly. I go and fined a beach to set down and just look out to the hourizon as far as the eye can see. Rain or shine I will still go and find a beach and just sit there.
