Our VCR Is Finally Dead

I was planning on watching one of the anime tapes that I had taped earlier in the Spring,so I got it and put it in the VCR,after much coaxing and then:
IT ATE THE DURN TAPE UP! :(
Not only that but nothing I could do would make it work properly.
Ok,first it didn't really eat the tape up until much later.First I had to struggle to just get the tape in(it has been like that for some time but usually after
I get pass that stage the tape works however this time it wouldn't even
rewind properly.)So there I am struggling with the VCR trying to see if
it will work and also trying to get the tape out,but nothing I do will
work. The fact of the matter it wouldn't respond to any of the commands, either with the remote(new batteries btw)or manually.
So right now there it sits unplugged and with a partially digested anime
tape in it. :(
Talk about bad luck.

Sounds like you need to open it up and carefully extract the tape. I'd check your belts to see if they are coming loose, that's what usually does this on my vcr. If I just twist the belts twice to get it fixed, and it lasts a little longer.

I've had times where my VCR would latch onto the tape and wouldn't spit the tape out all the way when I hit "Eject". That's 'cause somehow the film got ripped out and caught onto a piece inside the VCR. Ever since then, I'd always make sure I could easily get my tapes out when ejecting.
