So you can walk into a room, read people's minds, and tell whether they're an anime/manga fan.
But seriously how can you tell just by being a room full of people?

.... sheesh... o_O touch-ey... like when people talk, you listen, right? like everyone i know thinks anime is evil except for a few. can't you tell when you're being stared at? o_O I can't read peoplez minds, and I never said I could, but you can tell when people like start talking and start saying stuff about anime/manga/rpgs, and if they don't, then you can tell they don't like it because they're staring at you. I guess I AM the only one....

Don't take that comment the wrong way I was only joking. I even put the
face there just incase. I mean you didn't originally say that you heard people bashing anime just that you could tell you were the only fan in the room. The mind reading thing was obviously a joke too. Besides they're just ignorant and don't know anything better about it anyway. Have you tried explaining to them the difference between good and bad anime/manga? And that it's not all stupid kid stuff?

I wasn't really, or I would have been like ">_>" but you know I'm an otaku so it's hard to get along with people who don't like anime... not really "Get along" but you get my drift... I've explained to many of my friends about that, but they insist, so just kinda let it go. but anyway, back to the subject.. has that ever happened to you, yojimbo-san?

Only when I'm wearing my homemade sign that says "I LOVE ANIME" to church, or when I visit the Otakus For Satan anime club at my school wearing my "I AM A CHRISTIAN WHO LOVES ANIME" sign.
But seriously, no.

Only christian...yes. We have an anime club at school that has no Christian members, and whenever I see those people I know I'm in a group of non christian anime fans.
I can't tell on the other one, but most of my non anime friends are christian and are too polite to just tell me they don't like it.

XD; I think he meant ppl offline.
I would say that I only know 1 -2 offline acquaintances who share the same interest with me. None of them are Christian or draw though. Sometimes it feels lonely but it's not really that bad as long as your friends respect your interests.

I practically never run into a serious anime fan. If anything, they know there's something called DBZ.

::cracks up:: Heh, Mave is correct. I love you people here, but as far as in person, only a few of my family members are Christian, and I don't know any fellow anime fans/Christians/Christian-anime-fans. Granted, I don't really know many people as it is.

Well, I can say that I've been in a room full of people who've openly mocked me for likeing anime. They weren't really serious, but I'm pretty sure none of them were really fans. *Ah, Jr. High...* *lol*
*isn't really speaking coherently at the moment, but is trying to say that she's in the minority of the people she knows*

It might be weird though, if you had a lot of close friends who liked to draw. Wouldn't it get competitive?
I mean, for myself, it's great to have contact with other writers, but it might be difficult if writer-people were the only people I knew.
As for the other thing, I don't know ANY Christian anime fans in person except my brother.

In all honesty, I wouldn't know how to speculate on that.

Yeh, it seems hard to find Christians (offline anyway) who like anime.
In some sense I don't get mocked, since many of my brothers and sisters are originally from Hong Kong, and with that place being a big importer of Japanese anime, they have accepted it as "ok".
But having said that many of them have "grown out of" anime and its loosely-related subculture. I think I must be the only 26 year old in their group who still likes drawing Transformers, watching anime, and posing my Ryu action figure to do the "ha-dou-ken" move. So yeh, they think I'm a big kid, but I'm cool with that.

I have about 3 friends who are otakus like me and serious Christian offline. two of them and I are going to try to make a manga group and enter "The rising stars of manga" .. it's just really nice to have friends who are Christian and are otaku like me. I think that we can blame the bad publicity on Pokemon... not really "Blame" but you know... Pokemon was so stupid, now that we look back on the craze it was about 5-6 years ago. the majority of the people who liked it were (I can safely say) obsessed. I really liked pokemon back then, but now it's really dumb to me. I think "What was I thinking when there were such better animes out there?" i think what happened was everyone who "Grew out" of pokemon thought that all anime was like pokemon, so they didn't look back. it's kinda sad, really.....

I never find that I'm the only Christian otaku in a room.
I'm too incredibly cool to accept the label of 'otaku'.
