Hmmm. It seems someone has made an entry on the Wikipedia for the us!

Cool. It looks like it's pretty even-handed, neither being a commercial for CAA nor a Christian bashing article.

Well, since this is Wikipedia we should consider adding some pictures and maybe a whole subject devoted to Impact Alberto. Just kidding!! ;)

Wow. It's like opening an encyclopedia and finding your own face in it.

Overall, a good summation. The prominent mention of the DND list and its more popular titles could act as a troll magnet, but this list is a part of our site's culture and should not go unmentioned.

I also find it interesting that they mentioned banning controversies even though this article was written prior to chloe-Gate and its associated fallout. Kind of sad to think that this (whatever "this" is) is now one of our defining features.

EDIT: Wait, that's August 11!

Wow. Wikipedia really does have everything.

What about the also mentioned CLAMP fanclub, oh grand Master of the Clow? ;)

That was a decent article. I thought it was very fair. I wonder who felt the need to write such an article - it's obviously not an advertisement to entice people to join, but it's not condemning us in anyway, either. The person obviously has some experience with the site.

I think it's probably good that they mentioned some of the stances that may be considered more controversial on other sites such as banning political discussion and the do not discuss list.

"In order to keep the discussions neutral and avoid flame wars, many titles have been put on a "do not discuss list" that is widely enforced. Titles include Neon Genesis Evangelion, Angel Sanctuary, Bible Black, Gravitation, and any hentai title. This list is not always considered to be good institution because some members see the need for "healthy debate".

Politics are also off topic and the moderators will close most threads on the topic. Many members are critical of this decision but accept it as a way of keeping the peace. Many are also critical of some members being banned "for almost no good reason" athough the moderators point out that they did not adhere to the rules of the forums."
How the crud do they know what some members feel or don't feel? From reading a couple posts where 12 out of 3,000 people disagreed with this policy or the other?

Oh, well, I guess it's a start.

A quick not from Osaka's alternate personality: She's really just complaining 'cause the bishie's thread didn't get mentioned and--- Oh, darn, here she comes. I gotta make myself scarce!

I wonder when they made that entry?

Probably someone who's been involved in at least reading the site and talking to people from here for a decent amount of time.

Most of those 3000 members won't be posting their opinions on a set policy (do most of the 3000 members even post at all? :P)... That's why I think it was noted by someone who discussed CAA over IMs/PMs with members here in addition to *at least* lurking a bit and thinking "hey, random idea! I'll make a page at wikipedia about this place!"
Still, disagreements do get posted occasionally.

...there are some policies that I know that more than 12 people disagree with, but because it's not my site and I'm not running it there's really no point in stirring up a huge mess and hurting feelings and all that. To make a post with disagreements in policy isn't usually encouraged as much as PMing a staff member anyway, from what I understand.

I choose to come here and I enjoy the opportunities to interact with people here. If there are rules I just can't stand, I will leave, as no one is forcing me to stay.

I've actually done that before but I came back because I missed reading and posting here.

I will say in CAA's defense is that, this is probably the friendliest board I've ever been on. There just isn't the same discord and strife here that is common in other boards. I would say that the mods have done a fantastic job so far.

Wow that is awesome. And a fair very article too in my opinion minus that one small statement. But hey overall it was fair and that's fine with me.

That means it was written not in the US, which is why I asked... its not even that time here in California on the day it was written O.o;

Cool article though, I like the even handed portrayal it gives. Glad to see somthing like this out there.

I enjoy that site too. You can find info on everything there it seems and despite the fact there writers of the articles posting on Wikipedia are not done by professionals they seem to take their work rather seriously. Anyway, this is a good site (CAA that is) so I guess it sould be no surprise that this place ended up there. :)
