What's wrong with me?

I suffer from a insomnia problem and I never get past the first stage of sleep if I do. But that isn't the problem. My problem is much more....scary. When I do fall asleep, as in I get to all stages of sleep including dreaming....the dreams I have are about someone..hurting me.
They can be anywhere between one of my cats attacking me, having a nasty argument with my mother and thus causing me to become angry and throw her down the basement steps. I also had a dream that an aunt of mine had tried to poison me with arsenic.
Recently I had a dream that on man had attempted to rape me outside of a restaurant, and then a nother man molested me in the home of my uncle. the next night I had a dream that a few friends of mine that I hold very dear to me, all claimed to hate me and threatened to kill me if I ever came around again.
I thought of everything. Why on earth would I have these dreams?

This is a very hard problem and maybe to really find out you'd have to go see (AAARK!) a psychiatrist because they are trained to deal with these things. Have you had any major upsets or anything in recent weeks? Because these dreams might just be manifestations of your emotions. The psychologist may help but you have to choose carefully because some of them are full of crap and take themselves way too seriously.

I think sometimes we just have weird dreams like this. I've had some times where several nights in a row I'll have strange dreams and I'll have no idea where they're coming from, but they always pass. . . so hopefully yours will too!

My aunt has the problem... from lack of breathing... apperantly the resp. system locks up so the mind forces you awake with the most shocking thing you could imagine so you'll start breathing right again...
That's my $0.02...
Doesn't this belong in the prayer forum? That is, in prayer form...

It sort of sounds to me like you have an extreme problem with insecurity. Maybe you're afraid of losing control or people taking advantage of you or breaking your heart.
I really wouldn't know for sure. I'm no psychologist or prophet. I do have some experience with these things. It takes me a long time to calm down enough to sleep and when I do, I have some pretty strange dreams myself. Sometimes I figure out what it means and sometimes I don't. Some of them don't mean anything other than I have an overactive brain.
You should definitely pray about it, though. God's not into confusion. He'll lead you to the bottom of things one way or another.

I've had one or two dreams like that. They happened affter something traumatic happened to me. When I woke up I picked up my bible and looked up all the scriptures I could remember about sleeping in peace, such as, "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety." (Psalms 4:8)
My favorite, which I put above by bed with a post-it note is, "when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet." (Proverbs 3:24) and everytime affter that when I fell back asleep I had a really awesome or goofy fun dream ^_^
My brother actualy went through a verry long season of nightmares where he was attacked every night by creatures, demons. We prayed for them to go away and never come back and for God's peace to invelope his sleep and they haven't come back. I don't know what the cause of your nightmares is, but I can assure you that whatever it is, God has all that you need and will see you through this. It also wouldn't hurt, if you haven't allready, to talk to somone close to you about this, or a sort of mentor, or authority figure in your life, such as your dad, or a pastor. I've heard it can help alot to just talk about it with somone so. . . yeah.
I'll be praying for you, God bless. ^_^

perhaps is has something to do with ur subconsious mind, most people have more violent dreams and stuff when they are exposed to more of it. perhaps u should just try to keep away from anything potentially violent/sexual. i would try to stop thinking about it as much as i can.
i once had a dream of a praying mantis trying to carve its way into my heart. i have a few theories about that one.
but yea seppu is praying with u (^ - ^) so cheer up!!!

I have a lot of dreams like this too. Thank you for being brave enough to tell us. I usually keep those things to myself.
Nothing is wrong with you. It's just fear that you have to surrender to God. Lately I've tried to do that and it helps. Also it's good to meet with friends and hang out with people on a regular basis. Although I get social anxiety sometimes, it builds up my ability to be around a group of people without breaking down because of the neurosis.
I hope you're able to find something that works for you so that you can sleep again. I totally understand since this happens to me a lot. Maybe you should try sleeping with some lights on for a bit and talk to your parents when you have the dreams. I'm not afraid of the dark at all but when I have dreams like that I get paranoid that something will happen. It's better to be in the light so it wakes you up and brings you to your senses.
Then it's easier to get back to sleep.
Also, since it's summer, I've been taking naps in the afternoon...since I'm lazy, ha ha.

i sometimes have weird dreams too, but i don't really think much of them.
(like last night i dreamed i was locked ina basement and every door i opened that was wrong would have some sort of monster behind it. I woke up when i just unleashed a spitting cobra.)
anyway, as others have said, try to trust in God. Do you do devos at night or in the morning? if it's in the morning, try doing them at night a few times, or beter yet, both times.

oh yeah... it's still a problem... she can't sleep at all now... she enters stage one and that's it.. no stage 2 (as far as I know) and no chance of REM...
and... unfortunately... as I recal, she doesn't hang out with anyone IRL (And again, if memory serves, she's homeschooled... same shape I'm in... no IRL friends, completely isolated...) but she has us... ^_^ (CAA...) So yeah...
