CAA's Amazing Race - Checkpoint 6!!!

Postby Godly Paladin » Fri Aug 05, 2005 2:20 pm

And here we are at #6, with only 4 racers left. This the next to last standard round, folks, unless two people get kicked out. After that, it's on to the Finale! My favorite part...

A word before we begin: the stalwart Termyt was KO-ed (knocked out-ed) in action during the last round. Let us all weep for him, in memory of his bravery.

And your sixth country is...

IS...

ICELAND!

Settled by Norwegian and Celtic (Scottish and Irish) immigrants during the late 9th and 10th centuries A.D., Iceland boasts the world's oldest functioning legislative assembly, the Althing, established in 930. Independent for over 300 years, Iceland was subsequently ruled by Norway and Denmark.

Iceland remained one of the world's last larger islands uninhabited by humans, until it was first settled by Norwegian and Celtic (Scottish and Irish) immigrants during the late 9th and 10th century. It boasts the world's oldest parliament, Althing, which was established in 930. Some literary evidence suggests that Irish monks may have been living in Iceland before the arrival of Norse settlers but no archaeological evidence has been found.

It's not cheap to visit!

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/destinations/europe/iceland/

And it looks like I'm toast!

You spend one night out late with friends playing ultimate frisbee and look what happens!

Any consolation prizes for being at a missionary meeting?

EDIT - Apparently my late night had nothing to do with it - it was that I didn't check when I got home from work! Silly me - oh well, at least I lost because I was praying with a friend and then dancing...and then praying again, and THEN I went to my missionary meeting.

Jesus still loves me. :)

And that's all that matters, right? Interestingly enough, SManBeyond was eliminated in a previous season because he was at a Bible study... :brow:

Yes, our chivalrous Galant is gone. :waah!:
