Don't worry about. I myself am attracted to anime characters from time to time. As long as it doesn't hamper from daily life, it's normal. Though I can't really draw anything that I'd want to fall in love with.

I wish that I could draw. I have a few manga books such as tsubasa. The artworks pretty good but as to being attracted to it, not really.

Yes, carneman, it's extremely weird, how dare you be attracted to your own characters! Jk, Jk. Naw, it's cool. Heck, I always fall in love with at least one of my female characters.(not literally, but you get my jist.) the characteristics I put in my female characters are things I find attractive in real girls, and I'll bet you do the same. For example, I make most of my heroines somewhat shy with girly personalities, because that's what I find attractive in real girls. so i find myself somewhat attracted. This is perfectly normal, considering how you are the one who makes the character and molds them the way you like. Just as long as you keep in mind that they're FICTIONAL characters, it's all right.

OH YESHHHHHH! I am!!
I love my characters and the guy characters I draw for my stories are just...just... well I think they are sooo cool!
Take this attachment His name is Brendan.. and he is like me only male! and even a bit more crazy!! I wish there were someone like him in real life!
Seriously! sometimes I look at the pictures i draw of him and say things like, "WHY CAN't you be real?!"
Sadly...I have to wake up from my dreamworld...and accept that he will never pop up out of my sketchbook... and then I go cry in a corner for a few minutes...

Heh, I've done that before, too, but only with my girl characters.
*looks at pic* Btw, you're a really good artist.

yeah, but what matters is that you actually do come out of it.

I don't think its weird at all... in a story I've been playing around with, I've been so close to the characters that I've even cried cause of what happens to one of them (*sob* NOOOOOOO)...

Hey, thanks! I guess great artists think alike. Btw I made this character about 2 years ago, so I've had plenty of time to grow on to her. I wish I still had the first pic I ever drew of her, but unfortunately, it has been lost.

It looks like I'm in the minority, but I
do think it's weird to be attracted to characters that you create and/or to anime/manga characters; that is, if you are using the term "attraction" in the same sense that you would use of a real person.
As some of you have pointed out we create out of that which is in ourselves, so it is not surprising if in drawing male/female characters we draw our ideal visions of what it means to be a male/female. In this case it would be normal to be attracted to the
idea that such a person might actually exist, or that there is someone very much like them out in the world somewhere. Still, it would be rather weird to be truly attracted to the character in him/herself. Such a thing is not only weird but also futile and often distracting.
I should say that I don't draw, but I do write (as some of you know I'm writing a story about the CAA right now that you can view in the Goof-off forum
).

Thanks Heero Guy!
But I guess I can kinda agree with Cbwing... it is wierd, but then.. I NEVER said I wasn't ^^;
I am a very weird person by nature... I mean I once wore a bright orange construction vest over a shirt to school.. Meh.. I just thought it looked cool..
I am one to not care what others think of me...
I am not say, "Romantically" attracted to my characters not in the least.
But the characters I have created all have a past... in my mind.. they all have personalities...
and sometimes as I draw them. I actually talk to them.. (NO they don't answer back I am not THAT crazy...LOL )
but I have them envisioned in my mind...they are a part of me in a sense..because they came from me...
but that probably sounds just as weird as my personality.. LOL

I don't really think it's weird cuz as ChristianRonin said it's kinda like they're apart of me....ok that may be a little narcisstic (sp?) but mine all gain personality traits that I relate to and really like....dunno...I guess its a little weird when that's all that you go for but as long as you keep some sense of reality i don't think its weird

everyone I know thinks it's weird, but I don't think it is. I'm in love with a lot of bishonen, wether I created them or not! lol... I made two wolf dudes named Noda and Daiko that I totally love, and I'm love Darkun from DNAngel and Al from Fullmetal Alchemist. (Don't ask... everyone thinks I'm crazy! He's sooo cute!! Awww!! *Hugs al chibi doll*) anyway, It's perfectly normal, I think. Here's a pic of Darkun I drew, but I had to make it fit

I don't think you're crazy one bit. Al is the cooler brother to me.
Ahem...
Well, as long as you don't become like Pygmalion and fall in love with his own statue. If you don't know Greek Mytho, Pygmalion scorned women but created a statue to I guess envision what he thought women should be. In the end, he fell in love with the statue, and fawned over the statue for years. Aphrodite finally took pity on him and turned the statue into Galatea, a real woman.
That is where you will fall into idoltry.
