London Underground Explosion

I've just tuned into the news before going to bed and there have been bombings in the London Underground!

<<EDIT>>
This is not a prank or anything. It's only just happened by my timezone and there have been a lot of series injuries and, from reports, deaths.

My sister works in London. I just don't hope she's hurt. I know its a big place but I can't help but feel worried.

It isn't a prank; its all over the news here. So far two confirmed dead in a series of 6 (correct?) blasts that targetted London's transport system.

Edit:
Tony Blair (the PM) made a brief appearance saying that the G8 conference will be continuing, but that he will be going to London for a few hours to discuss the matter with officials in charge of the situation (eg police chief, etc). He also believes that this is a terrorist attack

It is in central london on the Piccadily circuit, if I remember correctly. There have been a number (4 or so?) of explosions in the Underground and at least two on buses. Communications in the area are reportedly understandably disrupted at the moment, and all underground and bus services in London have been stopped. This means that people who know others in London may not be able to recieve messages from them right away.

I don't know what to say, but for any of those who have family and loved ones in London, like you, Bigsleep, I'll be praying for you and them. Personally, I'd like to encourage everyone reading this to pray for those involved as well.

I second that. Although this wouldn't be on the scale as Sep 11th; it is still an attack that has claimed lives and injured many others. Not to mention the chaos this will throw the entire city of London into; with the transport system down people can't get to work.

For more detailed information about the attacks (though things are still sketchy), go here:

Yeah, they're playing almost the same coverage on 4 out of 5 channels here.

Latest news I heard was that 2 were confirmed dead and at least 90 people confirmed injured in at least 6 bomb blasts on buses and the underground trains in London. It has also been confirmed as a terrorist attack.

I'll definitely be praying for them.

CNN has it on their front page. The Underground was a horribly effective target to hit.

Though this may sound trite and obtrusive in light of the tragedy, I ask everyone to keep this thread strictly information and prayer only, not drag it through the quagmire of politics and make us close it.

I did not hear about this yet and I am indeed saddened by it. I've been to London; I've been through that station several times. So it's a very real scenario to me, and my heart and prayer does go out to those in London.

By the way, some of you asked about Straylight. I assume that he is fine--we have not heard from him for a few months, but he does not live in London proper so I would hope he was not affected by this. Still, our prayers are with him.

Sad to hear, terrible thing. My prayers to whomever's affected by this.

Looks like some branch of Al Qaeda have taken responsibility for the attack (no surprise), at the same time saying that the next attacks will be in Italy and Denmark. I have a friend who lives in Denmark and he says the security is really tightening up.

I'm merging this with the already existing bombs thread, and again I remind you all to keep this free of political opinions.

Yeah just read about this on FOX News. Very sad to hear this and I pray for the families of the victims. I hope this faction is stopped and brought to justice.

I hardly ever watch the news, so I found out today when I was on the phone with my friend. I turned on the TV, and there it was...it's so horrifying, and so frightening. Many of my good friends have family in London, and of course we're all worried about them and praying for them. And, while you're praying, you really should pray for the people who committed this act...it's hard, but the Bible does tell us to pray for those who hate us, so...
Incidentally, I was once at a youth camp where the minister told us that it was alright to pray for revenge. I don't think that's right...we're told to turn the other cheek...even though that doesn't mean being blind. We really should pray that the terrorists, whatever, turn away from what they've been doing and find Jesus...*sigh*...it's hard to think about being godly, when you're so angry, though... I heard that there's guards in DC and in NYC in the subways with guns, and that's so scary...it's like after september 11th.

My mom mentioned this to me first thing this morning while I was still half asleep, not exactly the happiest way to wake up (she did the same thing with 9/11, and the shuttle explosion). Those poor people, they have my sympathy and prayers. I depend on transit to get around and bombings like this one, and those in the middle east, always cause me to rethink going into crowded public places. It almost leaves you feeling scared to leave home, but I suppose that's giving the people behind the attacks power, isn't it?

Wow, that's awful. I'll be sure to pray for eveyone in London.

Definitely.

I've been through some of the places where the bombs hit, too, when I was in London this year.

The numbers on the TV at home are saying that at least 700 are injured, 300 in hospital.

al-Qaeda again... When will they learn that the more terrorism that they do, the harder we crack down on them?

I will pray for those affected by this damnable deed... all of London...

The news was on when I came back from the library today.I think it odd the way
they planned it to happen right after London had been awarded the 2012 Summer
Games and just when the G8 Summit was starting.Obviously well timed to get the
most effect just like the bombing in Madrid was timed right before their election.

What a tragedy. What's the whole point of doing this awful thing? *shakes head* I'll pray about it.

the point of terrorism is to strike fear, anger, sadness, and distrust in one's own government into the people's heart. But in the end, this never works out.

I feel so saddened by this. I was just talking to a friend last night about how she needs to try and not let things get her down. (just to let you all know, we were talking about things like this and how it feels hopeless sometimes to be able to change anything.) Now this same kind of thing has happened again. I just wish that people could just step back for once and just care about each other.

Actually, it hasn't happened AT ALL. Watching the news this morning, it seems that aside from those directly affected (casualties + their families), the rest of London is continuing life as normal... and I don't mean just forcing themselves to do so. They aren't even talking about the thing! (so says the news; which I suppose isn't completely trustworthy)

Anyway, as for those responsible for the attack... Instead of praying for their "capture so they can be made to meet Justice", we should instead pray for their "heart's capture so that they can be made to meet Love and Forgiveness". These are human beings, Jesus died for them. Imagine the glory and praises that would happen if they repented and gave their hearts to Jesus!
