Not really good news. Its more disturbing.

The possibilities remind me of some of the things scientists did CS Lewis' "That Hideous Strength" and that's not neccisarily a good thing.

Indeed, I'd say it's a bit disturbing as well. Stuff like this scares me. *shivers*

I think it's incredible. The potential to save lives is tremendous. It could virtually eliminate death due to massive blood loss for those who can get treatment fast enough.

Isn't that a little bit exciting?

Wow, is the first thing I thought.

I think it's horrible to kill animals in the name of science...

Anyway, though, they DID bring them back to life, but those poor dogs...what if it hadn't worked? Dogs would have lost their innocent lives for no reason at all.

By the way, no wonder it worked--I think that's a wolf they brought back. Well, at least that dog has wolf blood in it.

It's helping people live, giving doctors time to get a transplant, it's like a pause button (||) on Life, when something goes wrong.

Ever read "the Plague Dogs" by...the guy who wrote Watership down? (forgot his name) If everyone read that, experimentation on animals would probably go illegal. It's a good book and can even be a little funny sometimes because of the bizarre similies.

Did these dogs stay alive? That's my question. Did the scientists reinject the blood? And how'd they drain it? Are the scientists vampires or something...?

I think this will be interesting if it works on humans. Imagine if someone goes to hell then comes back to life...they are NOT going to want to go back there and are very likely going to get saved. Imagine that. People would realize that there IS a hell and they'd get their lives straightened out. That would be quite interesting...

As much as I hate animal experimentation too, HoS, I say babies over animals. This kind of research might save God's most precious creation. . . namely, us.

I mean, too-much-too-much. I don't think this incident in particular was cruel as the animals weren't in pain, but things such as vivisection...!!!! *shudders*

Not directed at anyone in particular, but no animal-rights discussions -- that's firmly under politics. Just a friendly reminder.

Oo, I read about this in one of my dad's science magazines last month. It is quite interesting. Though the idea of actually being dead and being brought back a significant time later (not just a near death experience) does seem a little...disturbing.

I just can't help wondering if you would still be you, and I guess I kinda worry about my soul escaping, as odd as that might sound. If the procedure is the same one that I read about, I believe they had to pump all the blood from the body and replace it with an artificial solution that was slower moving. Now that's creepy.

Still, I can definitely see some useful applications for the procedure, though I'm definitely not in a hurry to sign up for it.

This one of those things I find cool, but in the world of fiction. Plus, they're not technical being brought back to life as they're considered to still be dead (no breathing, heartbeat, or brain activity).

What I don't get is...how would this work on humans? If the body dies, there's nothing left for the soul to do but evacuate. What would happen if you brought the body back? Would the soul return, or would the human just be...an animal?

I don't like this at all. Death is a part of life...this seems too much like, I don't know, cheating death or something.

well it could be sorta like the FMA thing
the whole bringing the soul back to the body type thing
but would that be like antibiblical?

Man, I sure hope no one tries that on me. I'd hate to be in heaven, chatting with Paul or Daniel or someone and zipped back to earth by some fanboy or something.

Unless of course, your body were reanimated without the soul intact.

It COULD be a possibility.

what i wonder is if God would keep the soul there knowing you would be revived. I dont know but this seems benificial to me. I can see people being afraid of it or feeling bad for the animals, but with this kind of breakthrough i see it as being benificial.

I would like to look at it this way, your dad was shot by a burglar and dies. This treatment is made for loss of blood death, aka your dad. This treatment would then bring the dad back to you. I dont know about anyone else but it seems incredible.

I will wait for the human trials though to see about the soul deal, but wouldnt it be awfull if they created a golum? I know that it probably wouldnt happen but thats something for the bad side.

Anyways I applaud this advance unless they try to revive people rotted in the ground. That would be the time i go grab a magnum and beret from the local gunshop and camp out with the rest of the guys here.

Guys people everyday have to be "put" in a state of near death/death in surgery. Stopping their heart for so long, etc. I'm not that affluent in it but I'm sure you get the idea. It's not like they're interfering with the death process. Because sheesh it's nothing new and it's a bit late to get riled up about it since it's not new.

And this is a good development they might be able to save sudden stroke victims who knows.

Oh and I thank animals for testing vaccines and stuff so I know I won't grow a third eye or ya know...maybe die.:eyeroll:

It seems like all the science fiction theories become reality a little while after they are introduced. I hope reality doesn't stay true to the movies. lol. I doubt that Resident Evil will happen. (I have plenty of guns just in case though). I think it's actaully very exciting to be able to do this. But what if after 15 minutes people do get brain damaged. And become violent zombies! No. It won't happen. No one should be seriously scared by this. About the soul leaving the body thing. People have been revived from death before. I wonder what they have to say about it. You know.
