Hey all,

I am just curious as to how many people here are or used to be goths? I used to be one but I don't really think I am much of one anymore. I really llike the dress though. Especially the Japanese fashion goth clothing. I have dressed up gothic a few times and I still do every once and a while... also because my favorite color is black <3 <3

Anyway, here is some pics of meh..

The other guy in the priest lookin collar is my frend spike from college...

We did this during the Valentine's Day party at my college... heheh

I think I was kinda a not-quite-goth. I used to collect spikey leather jewelry (come to think of it, I still have all of it), I've always loved clunky black leather boots, I too love the dresses and I tend to gravitate towards a black wardrobe. But I was a little too chicken to take it all the way, let alone taking extreme measures on my hair O_O

It also depends on your surroundings; when I was at bible college, I looked more extreme. Whereas art college caused me to hide my few attempts at gothness in shame.

Cool pictures, by the way ^_^

i think ppl in my school think i am but i dont know why cause the only gothic thing about me is my shirts(all black) other than that no im not goth. i want an all black wardrobe and then act like the exact opposite of a goth and see what ppl at my school would think of that but i dont have the money for the clothes ohwell thats what i get for blowing my work income on pointless things

ugh... I could never be a goth. Makeup is for two things... 1. women, and 2. productions such as movies and plays. also, with my lether fetish, I guess I'm more of a... greeser? but... too nerdy...

Nice hair :] Eyeliner is so cool.

When I was in highschool, I was a weird cross between punk/goth/raver styles. I kinda miss those days.

I have been told before that I am an "effortless" or "true" goth, because although I don't dress with makeup, black eyeliners or nails or the like, nor spikey anything, nor black died hair. I do however like black clothing and wear a lot of it in combinations of highly functional and elegant. However, my own disposition is quite gothic (any readers of Love Hina should note that Kanako Urashima is like an overdramatized version of myself, tone down her quirks some notches, make them more realistic in action, and you have some idea of who I am), though without faking or overdramatizing.

I've never been, or will be a goth, though I have nothing against it if you are one. Though there were some days that I'd just happen to pull out clothes and later realize I was wearing all black.

i quite like goth fashions. more often (lately) than not i'll pull out something gothic-ish and wear it around. but more so, i think i just have a reputation for wearing anything different and creative. that includes, but is not limited to the gothic clothing ^_^

Yep. Did the whole nine yards for quite a few years. Black hair, nails, eyes, clothes. But that isin't all of it. It is a life philosophy. Goths reject the world before the world gets a chance to reject them. It often turns into a battle of Scars. And who has been wounded the most, has the most screwed up family, and who is the most detached and "doesn't care" about it. Or is screwed up beyond repair. It becomes like a badge of honor. ...Yea. Was, not anymore. Still drawn to it, and like aspects of it. But would not go back as to all of it. Very bad time of my life when I was.

Aww! Banana-chan, you're so smiley! You're too cute to be goth. ^.^ *puts stamp of cuteness on Banana-chan's head* The clothes look great on you though. :)

Most people who know me now can't imagine me as the person I was a few years ago.

I was consumed by angst and hatred, and so I was easily drawn to the goth philosophy. I'm not talking about the clothes, I'm talking about the mindset: the belief that nothing matters, life is hopeless, no one loves me, I hate everything, I want to kill myself, I want to kill everyone.

Eventually I had to choose. My Christianity, or my sinful nature. The way of the light, or the path of darkness. Mercy or the vengeance I wanted so badly. The lies that I was told or everything I knew to be true.

I struggled for a long time until I finally faced the truth and did what needed to be done. I gave it up, and along with my image, my heart changed.

I stopped being so introverted, quit wearing a million layers of black in 100-degree weather, and tried to make some friends. I'm still working on correcting the vacant stare. I am so used to it that sometimes I stare without realizing it...one time I was thinking about something and a little girl came up to me and said, "You scare me..."

It kind of hurt my feelings but my mom said that it really is scary when I stare into space like that. o_O Usually my face was hidden under my black hood, though.

So I'm no longer just "the grim reaper"...I have a name now, and I like it. Madeline. That's why I chose to make my real name my username. I love my name. I'm not any of the things I've been called by people in the past. I'm just...Maddie-riffic! ^_____^

I don't claim to know who I am yet, but I know now that I'm not goth. My faith demands that I be something different.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to try and be anyone's Holy Spirit. You know in your heart who you are in Christ, and if you are truly a goth then that's cool with me.

Haha, cool. ^^ So you're making your own unique kind of goth? That's awesome.

I almost put an "e" on goth, haha. Old habits die hard. XD Oh well. Goth, gothe, gothic, gothique...it's all the same thing.

I'm not a goth, but I used to wear black all the time.

Then one morning I decided I wanted to wear something different... I put on a white shirt and white pants... when I came out of my room, my mother just stared, and then walked away.

I asked her, "Mom, what's wrong?" And finally she admitted it had just been too sudden of a change for her.

I hadn't realized I'd been wearing black THAT much.

Ahh, here is a quickie from me. All while I was a teenager up until my first year in Bible College, I hated who I was. I thought I was ugly. Much of my frustration came from not being able to get a girlfreind. Also, when I was in school, I never had any friends. I got made fun of for my name being Micah. I hated how I looked, I hated how I acted sometimes. I though I was stupid. Anyway, you get the point. I didnt have alot of black clothes when I was younger, mostly because I was a PK and my mom would not have liked me "dressing goth". Goth is more of an attitude in a more popular definition. It can also be defined as a style of dress. I have come a long way with my attitude. I like who I am but I still like to dress goth once in a while.

Anyway, that is my 2 cents for now. :p

Wah! People seem to think that being goth involves being sad and cutting and depression...or at least...that's what I seem to get...calling me "goth" really started out as a joke among me and my friends...until I realized one day...erm, if I HAD to choose a group to identify myself with...it would probably be goth! I get kind of upset, though, when people assume taht I'm depressed or cutting, because I feel like- what about the people who don't dress goth, but are deeply depressed and are hurting themselves? One of my favourite things to do, though, is to be all gothed-up and to go into a store, street, etc...have people stare at me...and then be really nice to them! I love the looks on their faces, and I love the fact that I'm *hopefully* changing their impressions about, well, first impressions! But, anyway, that was my rant! Kinda a happy rant...

Madeline, that's great you were brave enough to change your image and the way you related to people. :thumb:

BlueGothKitten, it's cool that you can change people's opinions. :thumb:

Personally, I do think of goths as scary, sad, or depressed people. But that's because the only ones I see seem very, very depressed, and death-obsessed. I try to pray for them. Even though sometimes they look cool, I think it's sad that anyone should feel as miserable as most of the ones I see look. :sniffle:
