The Dreaded and Feared...ACT!
PostPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2005 12:59 pm
You would think that summer has arrived...and with that glorious arrival..there would be no tests...just relaxation, and the occasional job...you would think that you can stay up all night and not expect to have to get up at 6:30 am to go to school...
On a normal given day, that would be true...but for me...on this day, that last statement...was all a lie....
You see here where I live, as much as anywhere, any high school student wanting to go to college must take this annoying test called...THE ACT! (For some it is the SAT...)
I was last online last night at around 11 my time...when my father comes in, "CR..(not usin my real name) do I NEED to unplug that computer? You need your rest.."
I just rolled my eyes, "YES SIR!" I replied and logged off....
little did I know...I should have gotten off sooner...because...I was so excited with all the roleplayin I had done, that my mind was swimming with all the ideas I could do today! that before I knew...it was 2 AM!!!
I sighed and closed my eyes.."TIME TO SLEEP!" I yelled to myself... I clicked out the light and closed my eyes...
4 hours later.....
CR IT IS SIX THIRTY!!" My mom calls from her room...I groan as I get up...the dreaded ACT was only two hours away...
my world moves in slow motion...as my eyes grow accostomed to my contacts.."DARNIT I slept with them in again!!" I yell to myself... as i walk up stares to get ready...
By the time I leave I am still in a daze...4 hours of sleep was not restful enough...I guess I am NOT supergirl after all...
I get in my car...go to the donut shop and then drive..FIFTEEN LONG DREADED MILES to my testing destination...I sign in... and procede to my, torture chamber...
surrounded by city kids I have never met before...the instructor hands us our tests...first up...LANGUAGE..I hate GRAMMER!!
then math...my worst nightmare...
by the time science rolled along...my eyes were becomig blurry...and I had tor reread each question carefully...before I knew it..."TIMES UP!" the instructor calls...I had just finished filling in blanks...that I had no idea as to what they were..."guessing is better than nothing." My teachers told me...but still...
I walk outside after the test...relieved that it was over...but knowing I will probably take it again...and next time...I WILL GO TO SLEEP!
