Okay...so I have had my cat Dallas for a year now. A couple of months ago, she started this weird habit. Whenever she sees a light on the ceiling, she makes this wierd sound like: ma a...ma a and like runs and jumps toward the light having this crazed expression on her face. So, anyone else's cat do this? She doesn't even think she's a cat so maybe...

Cats get a kick out of the weirdest things.....mine like to knock things off the tables, and I read in a book that they liek to watch things fall. Your cat must like things that flicker and move about...and well the noises and they face...must mean shes really interested in what she sees.............or she's nuts lol

Cats are impossible to figure out. They all have weird little tics and quirks. We have one that can open doors. She puts her claws on it and twists back and forth till it pops open.

My cat loves to watch the moths fly around on the back porch and then
tries to catch them.
Also anyone else notice that once a cat is inside no matter how late it is and no matter how long they've been inside they want outside RIGHT NOW!
They look at you like..."Why are you upset...You really don't need all that
sleep now do you...And besides it's nice outside and I promise I won't disturb
you...etc..."

I had a cat that liked to show affection by biting. It would be purring as I pet her, and suddenly, her claws would be in my hand, and she would alternately bite and lick my hand.
Weird...

Witties are fun!!!!
She probably wants to chase the light on the ceiling...my cats make really funny/incredibly cute noises when they see something they want to play with but is out of reach.
My male cat will fetch a ball if you throw it.

My cat makes werid noises all the time. The vet told me cats can make something like 300 different sounds way more then a dog can. The other day she got all excited about something she saw out the window. She was making a strange noise I'd never heard her make before. I looked out and there was a wood pecker sitting in the grass. I think she was wishing she could go through the glass. My dad said at her age the wood pecker would probably kick her butt.

Cats are demons, and as such they detest the light.

Weird...
I had one who did the exact same thing. She also stuck her tongue out when she was particularly happy.
Of course, she was also quite insane, but that comes with the territory.

Mine does too. Is yours an indoor cat? Those are the sounds they make to attract prey.
Hmm. Kitties sometimes scare meh.

My cats do that when they see birds. Except they jump at the window. Well, when they're inside... And my one cat just meows like that.

Cats are sweet little creatures. Mine is always awake in the day. And she loves to sit in the sun.

It's possible your cat sees tiny insects who are attracted to the light. Her hunting instinct makes them very attractive to her and she might act a little nutty.
Also, she could remember seeing insects around a light, and just keep hoping.
For awhile one of our cats kept going over to a spot near the table where she had once found a moth. We kept saying how stupid she was... it wasn't still there! But it turned out she actually was finding moths near there. (A nest or something.)
It could be something like that for your cat.

Heh...another odd thing one of my cats does...(We have 4 in our house) Zoe eats plastic bags. You gotta hide all of em...because otherwise you come in...and theres a giant spot gone from a bag...which can't be good for her. I have decided that no cat is normal.

Oh, my cat Marmalade does that! I think she's going to kill herself one of these days eating plastic...

My grandma had a cat that chased light!! If you shined a flashlight around, Bandit would attack it. He actually did it so much, they once turned on Mannheim Steamroller Christmas music and filmed him while he chased it.
...Yes, my family is full of freaks, I'm not afraid to admit it.
Also, my cat Oreo (God rest his kitty soul
) was really weird. He would watch tv, but only certain shows (Dexter's Laboratory, Rocko's Modern Life, and Little Bill to be exact). He was awesome...
My brother's cat Chloe is an oddball, too. She meows at birds
while she's stalking them, so obviously doesn't catch many. Also, we think she can comprehend English, because every time you say something to her, she mews back, and always announces her presence when entering a room.

Our neighbours once had a cat who didn't seem to know she was a cat. She hated other cats and tried to stalk them. She was really funny... but we had to keep her away from kittens.
Cats are crazy!!!

Well she has a bad stomach. The only food she can eat without getting sick is this really expensive brand. And she gets cat milk as well. But when she begs at the dinner table i start feling bad. So I give her some veggies. She doesn't like carrots or celery. But she loves peas and broccoli. I wonder what else I can get her to eat. BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!! As long as she doesn't get sick I'm happy. =)
Right now my cat is enthralled with her recently cleaned blanket. I think it may be because it is warm from the dryer.

I have 5 cats. Each has something different to do. Tiger the youngest, likes to get up on shoulders and ride around. He also likes to jump into the bathtub (When theres no water) and roll around from one end to the other. Charlie the oldest and King of the house, EATS and looks like a Goodyear Blimp.
He also looks for places to pee around the house if we don't watch him and move and cover things so he won't. Mouna the Mother of Tiger, Bitsy and Mitsy sleeps most of the day under the beds, on top of the refrigerator and then comes out to rub all over you when walk in the kitchen.
Bitsy and Mitsy are long hair cats and just find a place to lay down all day and try to look pretty. The others are short hair. Mouna, Bitsy and Mitsy are black, Charlie and Tiger are gray and tiger strip. Charlie is not the father of any of the kittens. Charlie was a stray kitten that was hiding in the bushes at the church and my father started feeding him and brought him home when it started getting cold. He was 3 years old when we took in the others. Mouna was a stray living under our neighbor's shed and had two litters before we caught her. Bitsy and Mitsy were from the first litter with their brother Socks who lives with the neighbor. We used a live animal trap to catch them. Tiger is from the second litter of six kittens which Mouna had in another neighbor's shed and when she was discovered she brought them all over to our yard and we took them in and did everything for them before five of them were given away.

Cats are nice. Especially when served in a wine sauce. Just kidding.
Someone would have made this joke sooner or later.

Yeah, my cat is indoor. She also has this problem with the string. I guess I played it too much with her. I always used to put in the top right drawer of my computer desk, and so now she always sits on top of it and meows pitifully. It's not there!
She's very entertaining.
Alice, my cat is like your neighbors' except that she jsut ignores other cats. Also, me and her "talk". It's very funny!

Comet likes to ride on my shoulder too. But shes so big she is not just on my shoulder but on my chest too. She was an abandoned kitty. The old lady we got her from told us some people threw her out of a car one day and she took her in. The lady couldn't afford to take care of another cat so she had placed an add. And thats how I ended up with such an awsome cat. A very spoiled awsome cat. My sisters going to have to fight Comet for a pillow while shes visitning since Comet has the only extra pillow. Heh.

We used to have a really fat gray tabby named Fluffy. She was ancient, too. She was like 2 years older than me. When I made SpaghettiO's as a little kid, if I left the room, she would always be on the tabletop when I came back, eating them. She always seemed to be stealing my food. ...Maybe that was why she was such a lardo. Another weird thing, my mom made up a song about Fluffy and always sang it when she held her. I can't remember how it went, exactly, but I do recall some lyrics in it having to do with "A little fat cat" and "If you sit on her, she will go 'splat' ". ...Yes. Again I say that my family is dysfunctional in many ways.
