Well, because I have mono...my sunday youth leader won't allow me to come back to church until I get the clear from her.....so...since i'm sorta banned from church temporarily...I don't wanna possibly fall away from my relationship with God. Another problem is I'm terrible when it comes to my devotions. I would like to read my Bible...my problem, :( I dunno where to start!...yeah...I mean the beginning is a good answer...but I've already read that so many times. I dunno. Just...any suggestions on what starter books in the Bible would be and maybe how to have constant devotion and time with God. Thanks.

For light reading I go to Psalms or Proverbs.

I like Corinthians, myself.

For some devotional time, how about checking our very own Rev Doc's daily devotions found right here on this site?

I'm trying to hold Bible Study with my friends online everynight. If you want some good scripture reading (Psalms 119 right now, to be specific), IM me! (or PM if you want) I'll be happy to let you in.

If you have the Bible on tape or CD, that might be a good way to get back into it. You can just turn it on, and lay down and listen.

Your mind might start to wander sometimes, but that can be a good thing, if you're not listening to it just for devotions. This has happened to me... I've started to fall asleep listening to the Bible. It was oddly calming and I slept deeply. ^-^

The suggestions for what book of the Bible to read are all good ones, so I won't add any additional ones. What I would suggest, however, is looking into local Christian radio stations--I have noticed that they often broadcast church services on Sunday mornings, so you might be able to hear a worship service that way. It isn't as good as actually attending church, but it is still better than nothing. Failing that, you might be able to get sermons on tape from your own church to listen to.

I would say perhaps a study on a certain aspect of the bible--like, the messianic prophecies, or the fruit of the spirit, or the names of God. All you would need is a good concordance, and some patience. Or perhaps a survey of a certain part of the Bible, like the pastoral epistles (1 & 2 Tim, Titus), or the poetry books--something like that might be really fun and miracle grow for your soul!

And you're welcome to join us in the girl's bible study, of course, if you haven't already. We can't get mono via IM!
