Scariest things... that shouldn't be scary

My brother says it's clowns. Clowns are scary.

Last night, I was reading an Agatha Christie, and I came across a line that made me jibber with fear. I'd read it almost exactly the same in another of her books... ended up really scary... and... it was a simple line.

Old lady, in nursing home-type-place, holding a glass of milk, asks a young lady, "Was it your dear child?"

There are other things like that, which are scary but shouldn't be.

So, my question to you all is, what do you think is like that?

(If this gets moved to Goof-Off, that's okay.)

The dark, and spiders. Both up there on my list of irrational fears. I'd say sharks, but I have every logical reason to fear sharks. O.o

I'm tempted to say men with facial hair, just to spite Shatterheart. ;)

Strange noises where there aint supposed to be any. And no, this is not a "Plan 9" reference. Imagine walking alone in the bushveld on a moonless night and hearing someone whistle a short creepy "Third Man"-esque tune and then run away when you call out "Who's there". It did not exactly happen like that to me but things like that are creepy and rather disturbing.

How about watching a balloon get bigger and bigger?

Balloons aren't scary. Neither are loud noises, necessarily, especially when you know they're coming. But whenever people see a balloon about to pop, they get nervous and try to pull away. I wonder why. We know it's gonna pop, but still people get anxious about it.

*POP!*

See? Totally not scary, and I didn't even warn you guys.

I've always been creeped out by stuff underwater. Not like plain sand and rock beneath the waves at a beach - I'm talking decaying logs half-sunk into thick weedy mire at the edge of a lake. Ug! I can just imagine it while I'm swimming in a lake (which I do yearly): Looking down at the bottom you see this tangled mess of slimy sticks. You give a good kick to swim to deeper water and your foot brushes one of the rotting wooden fingers. A few strands of seaweed ensnare your other foot. Ahh - they're pulling you under...!

*blub*

Whew! That's why I only swim in a lake where I can't see the bottom.

Mine is also clowns. ive been scared of those forever. Ya know, if so many people are afraid of clons, why do they even bother? (shivers)
But mainly(can i even get the woud out?) ticks <BIG SHIVERS>! I hate those, I hate seeing them, hearing about them, or even sayng or typing the word. i got a small one on me once, and after we got it off it was still itchy and reddish (and the worst part about it is they can leave their heads behind. EWWWW!!!!). we wnt to the doc and i heard the words "Spotted Rocky mountian disesase and Lime disease," and ive been scared ever since.
Sorry, i know no one asked for a stor, but i cant help it!!

Little kids in large groups. No, seriously - they've tried to take me out on several occasions. Just imagine 20 six-year-olds with sticks....

Ee, that is scary. My younger brother's scared of ticks, too. But... I can't say I'm not scared of them... anything that wants your blood can't be good.

Actually, I get more freaked out by spiders, though.

What we are thinking...

Must... get... Kkun...

Bwahahahaha!

Seriously, on another thread someone had the statistics that there are several million more women in America than there are men.

Well... it that's true, you're surrounded. :)

Personally, I think most of the imbalance comes from older men dying sooner than older women (statistically). ^-^

The dark.
Big nothing like the being on the ocean.
Things that are in the ocean like big fish with big mouths.
My own nightmares.
And I have heard that there is a phobia of people being scared of peanut butter.
Its called Arachibutyrophobia.

Those singing puppets in disney rides... I would rather be fighting off orcs with a butter knife than trapped in one of those rides with power failure...

Yeah, I'm surrounded. Guess I'd better get over my irrational fear of the ladies, eh? XD

sleeping in the dark without a blanket.
clowns.
cockroaches *shudders*.
standing outside in the dark with noone with you in the middle of your front lawn.
having your closet door open when you're sleeping.
finding a dead animal around your house. . allthough, I guess that's not irrational, cuz' that is kinda' creepy, especially when there's alot of wicca around the area you live.

Guinea pigs.
Bridges.
Centipedes.
Coyotes...sure, they usually stay away from humans, but they creep me out.
Oh, and whenever I see a dead animal, for some reason I get really scared. >.> Dunno why.

Oh yeah, my taller brother doesn't like monkeys, either. I do a loud monkey imitation... he tolerates it.

I don't really like monkeys either, although one of my favorite movie lines is probably
"chilled monkey brains." Said in that certain voice...
Potato bugs. They are hellspawn. They refuse to die. I have dropped a brick on one and watched as the brick walked away...
