Recently I've been interested in making my own Gothic Lolita type dress, I know what lolita means and all that but as I started looking into it allot occult stuff kept coming up, I don't want to dress in a way that would contradict my faith. So my question is, is there any thing like that associated with EGL, gothic lolita or sweet lolita?

uhm... I'd have to say that as a Christian, you shouldn't dress like that. For sure. For a woman to dress herself in that way would be to draw attention to her body in an inappropriate way. Jesus says that it is committing adultery in a man's heart for one to look at a woman's body in lust, which is what would result. It is one of our highest duties as Christians to keep other people from sinning in any manner, even if we don't mean to sin. Therefore, I would strongly urge you to not turn to such a wardrobe. Instead, dress modestly, in a way that is less... seductive. The world may be coming up with more and more inappropriate forms of apparel today, but there are still many many good choices that look nice and are modest.

Dude, EGL isn't to be confused with that pedophile stuff. Not all EGL clothing is revealing or provocative. Most EGL dresses are just elaborate, gothic-styled frilly things. It's just fashion.
Dressing like a punk or a goth raises the same question, really...punk rockers are for disorder, chaos and disrespect, but you don't have to be that way if you like the fashion. A lot of goths are into some dark things, but that doesn't mean you have to be to dress like one. So, I think the same thing applies to EGL, but ultimately it's up to the individual's convictions. Pray about it.

I wasn't giving a generalization as to what genres of clothing to wear or not. I just know that there are certain boundaries that must not be crossed by a Christian, especially by women. Ladies often don't know the effects of their bodies' appearance has on guys. We are visually stimulated on a much greater scale than females are. Thus it is so important for girls to realize that their choices in clothing can be very important. In the end it comes down to one thing regardless of color, genre, style, price, etc... is it modest or not?

Whoa yeah thats definately not the same thing.
Anyway, I dont see anything wrong with the gothic EGL look. Most of it seems very modest if not a little dark. I say go for it.

From what I've seen in the real Japanese EGL (stands for Elegant Gothic Lolita), it was a backlash against the ganguro style and seems to be "In" for the moment.

FRWL, you might want to read this segment from the article AnimeHeretic posted:
Wikipedia wrote:Although "Lolita" is a reference to Vladimir Nabokov's famous novel, and GothLoli is often worn by teens, most followers of the style do not consider it overtly sexual. Adherents present themselves as Victorian children or baby dolls and prefer to look "cute" rather than "sexy". Japanese culture places a higher value upon extremely youthful appearance and behaviour than Western, and some adult women buy large amounts of products, such as Hello Kitty goods, that are typically marketed only to children in the West. Gothloli is perhaps a more visible extension of this phenomenon.
I personally don't see anything wrong with the EGL fashion. It's definitely more tasteful than the standard goth clothes out here in the west, and usually isn't sexual in any way. I really like the dresses and blouses I've seen on EGL sites, and I'd love to wear them if they weren't so darn expensive.
If you're looking for clothing links without all the icky occultic stuff, I'd suggest you go through the Goth pics thread and look into the links that are posted there.

One reason I like EGL is because allot of it seemed more modest then allot of the clothes out there ^-^ any way, thanks for all taking the time to reply, it was really helpful.
