Gday everyone!

1. What is going on in your life?

Hmm... nothing much at this precise time. Its mid-semester break (I'm in uni), so I'm BLUDGING!!! ;) Of course... *glances at pile of homework beside me*

2. What ya up to?
At the mo, just sitting in front of the computer most of the day. Garr! Its not healthy I tell ya!! What I WANT to be doing is completing my assignments, improving my manga drawing skills, spending more time with the family... ;)

3. Interest?
Drawing manga (not too good at the mo, but am improving), playing the comp, reading, thinking up stories

4. What’s your favorite Movie, Manga, VG, Anime, Music, TV show, and Book?
Movie: LOTR
Manga: + Anima
VG: Deus Ex
Anime: ooch... this is a toughy. Probably Full Metal Panic
Music - Aargh! Hard questions!!... ok, Nicole Nordeman; TFK; and a whole range of Christian music.
TV Show - Lost. It used to be ALIAS, but its getting kinda silly now.
WHY DID VAUGHN GET MARRIED?! WHY WHY WHY!!!!
Book - hehehehe... I have an entire list!!!:
This Present Darkness (TAL AND GUILO ROCK!)
LOTR
James Herriot books
Stephen Lawhead books (avalon, the pendragon cycle, etc)
The Mark of the Lion trilogy (by Francine Rivers)
The Circle trilogy (Ted Dekker)

5. And what do you want to do with your life?
I want to be an online-manga artist! I also want to get married, have a few kiddies, and SERVE GOD!
As for jobs... bleh. I haven't the faintest idea. I'm good at maths, hence am doing a Bachelor of Commerce, but the whole commerce, accounting stuff doesnt seem to interest me. So, I'm not too sure what the future holds for me, only that whatever it is, I want to be doing what God wants me to do.

1. What is going on in your life?
Hmmm. I'm getting married, trying to sell my screenplay and my novel, and trying to sell a few short stories.

2. What ya up to?
About to make dinner for my fiancee.

3. Interest?
Due to inflated gas prices I've decided to ride my bike most places I go. It solves the money/gas problem and keeps me in better shape.

4. What’s your favorite Movie, Manga, VG, Anime, Music, TV show, and Book?
Favorite movie: would have to be Never Cry Wolf,
Manga: don't read it.
VG: don't play video games.
Favorite Anime: Ghibly Studio's Whispers of the Heart.
Music: probably jazz, at the moment.
TV: I don't watch TV all that much, but when I do, it's either Nova or Frontline both on PBS.
Books: too many to name.

5. And what do you want to do with your life?
Right now I happen to be living my dream. I'm marrying the perfect woman, spending all my time writing and trying to get to the point where I can do it for a living, and I go to the most stable (protestant) church I've ever heard of. The one thing I would like to be doing that I'm not is speaking at different churches and encouraging people in their walks with Jesus.

There sure are a lot of writers on here. What styles do you all write? I am specifically writing a sci-fi / fantasy / mystery twist series for teenagers right now. I am also working on Christian Apologetics for teenagers too…kinda like C.S. Lewis (favorite writer) for teenagers.

spiritusvult, congrats on the geting married!

I read through the posts on "I walk a lonely road," and something hit me. I've felt like an oustider in everything I do, pretty much totally alone (until I met my fiancee, but now it's just us too and she's pretty strange like me).

Anyway, what I was thinking is this, the reason God made me an outsider, is that now I'm able to do things for Him that most people would be unwilling to do because they're too worried about being cool. That's not a pride thing either. Because they're cool they can reach a different set of people (and God gets the glory both ways). What I'm saying is that we--being outsiders-- are free from the normal social constraints that bind the rest of society, we're free to be Jesus Freaks, should He so call us.

That's what I think about it, and let me tell you, the thought that I'm in a sort of specail forces for Jesus, that's just sic(sic).

Oo, count me in! I'll try to keep this shorter and refrain from rambling

1. What is going on in your life?
School, hacking together a design portfolio and FINALS!!!! :waah!:

2. What ya up to?
Besides school, not much I'm afraid.

3. Interests?
I'd describe myself as an artsy fartsy environmentalist bookworm who likes to swim.

4. What’s your favorite Movie, Manga, VG, Anime, Music, TV show, and Book?

Movie: LoTR, Moulin Rouge, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spidey 2.
VG: KOTOR, FFX and Pokemon Saphirre
Anime: Umm...I guess Escaflowne?
Music: Current and classic rock, worship, celtic, folk, with some punk and alternative thrown in.
TV Show: I am very frighteningly obsessed with Lost
Book: Watership Down, Jane Eyre or the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

5. And what do you want to do with your life?
I'm hoping to get a career in the design industry, either in advertising or illustration. It's all up in the air right now though. I wouldn't mind having a family some day, and I really wish I could find some way to make a positive impact on some of the issues out there in the world. Now if only I could figure out how to go about doing that..

Spiritvult, congratutlations! I pray you have a blessed and successful marriage founded on God! God Bless you man!

Holy Soldier and others who are interested,

Without giving too much away my story involves a young man called Dexis who has lived the majority of his life underground as a guard/part time torturer in the mines.
He is a very troubled young man and has no hope. His dad is also in the mines (but Dexis doesn't know him). They escape and journey across the desert to Aberdeen - a massive city 50 km in length, housing millions of people. It is a corrupt place and water is greatly treasured. Only the rich can afford it, the poor slowly die off.

To cut a long story short there will be a battle over water reserves in the sand dunes, the last printed Holy book (Bible) will play a large part as the bad guys have destroyed all other copies in the world. There will be a small war with the good guys (Dexis, some creatures and other humans) and the bad guys with their terrifying creatures and robots powered by illegal human organs. Lots more stuff but I don't want to ruin it for you.

Its a story of the journey of faith, from a life completly in sin to slowly growing and coming to know human emotions (love, grace, forgiveness etc) and witnessing to the lost. Its sci-fi fantasy - otherwise known as steampunk possibly.

My main influences are C.S Lewis, Garth Nix, the Thief game trilogy, Tad Williams, Tolkien, Sean Williams, the Bible and the crazy mind of me.

The country or whatever the story is set in is based in spirit on the landscapes of South Australia.

Oh, and its going to be called Before the Dawn, as in "its always darkest before the dawn."

Hope that gives you the general idea of what I'm up to.
(These ideas are mine, please don't steal them)

Warrior 4 Jesus, that premise sounds incredible! I'm always in awe of people who can create original worlds, and the one you described sounds very well thought out and detailed.

Myself, I tend to create characters and narratives within pre-existing universes (the Marvelverse and Middle Earth being two major ones), *sigh* I'm pretty much feeding off the creations of others. Hence the major respect for people who start from scratch.

I'm hoping you'll keep us posted on how the story is going, it sounds awesome ^_^

Thanks for the encouragement lizardqueen! Actually I'm fed up with all the Tolkien like fantasy worlds *cough* Eragon *cough*, they get so unoriginal, so I thought I would bring something more interesting to the table. I've had the story brewing for some time now but its developed into something far greater than I thought it ever would. Its amazing what happens when you rely on God more!

I'll keep you guys up to date on the story - maybe create a thread or something. Then I'm putting it up for free on a website I'm making. But if I can learn to set up online money thing, I'm going to charge a small amount: $5 Aus or something for a printable copy. Got to make some money!

God Bless!

Warrior 4 Jesus,

I love the idea for the story! Very original! Have you given any thought about seriously getting it published? You sound like you really might have something there! :thumb:

My Idea is a quite bit different as well. It mixes fantasy elements (unicorns and wizards) with sci-fi elements (aliens and starships) a great deal of mystery (detective solving crimes) mixed with a lot of comedy (funny characters and situations) and added just a pinch of Spy movie (Evil villain trying to take over the world!) Sound a little strange? I am trying to get it published this Fall and on the markets by winter...God willing!

I forgot to mention my novel also has Tintin influences.
Yeah, I seriously want to get it published but I know that its really difficult.
Its going to be quite a dark novel but with the hope of light at the end of the tunnel.

Actually getting published is not that hard. I have been doing a lot of research into it, as well as speaking with several authors, and they have been giving me tips for getting started. I would be willing to share them with you if you would like.

I will PM you the info. Good luck man. And remember nothing is impossible with God. So pray about it, and if you feel God is calling you to do something then do it. If He is calling you then He is going to open the door and help you get through it!

Plus…If you could mix LotR, Star Wars, Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail together you would have my series! he he :dizzy:

HolySoldier2000,

I hope I do not seem like a public antagonist here, but something needs to be said before this gets too out of hand.

To my knowledge, no one on staff had any clue about this fellowship. That means you did not take the time to even ask the staff if this would be ok, which is completely mandatory. And even if it were not, it's still a basic courtesy. This is not your forum to run, and as a member you should out of common consideration run new idea for programs by the people whose job it is to manage this site.

Secondly, I would question the NEED for this group. I'm very wary of any groups being proposed really, because it moves towards dangerous clique territory. CAA is already like a huge clique/gathering, why do we need subgroups? The prayer guardians, sure; the knights, fine; the wolves, ok. But your group seems to be a mirror of what CAA is ALREADY doing. We don't need two of ourselves.

So, my point is this: next time ask (pm, email, IM, whatever) before you speak/propose and if you MUST start a club, please have some justifyable reasons for doing so.

So you can consider this new club denied. I'm sorry to kill your plans, but it wouldn't have happened if the proper procedures had been followed.
