Hey guys, I am getting a sermon together to preach on Tuesday the 19th. I will be preaching about not judging others by appearance. I was hoping to use maybe some kind of video clip. I actually saw this King of the Hill episode that would have been awesome to use. I am not a big fan of King of the Hill but it really hit home... Anyway, does anyone know some good internet sites to get some good recources?

Thanks guys for any help you can give.

There are a lot of on line aids for developing sermons. I use very few. I have found that what you will run into for the most part are messages that have already been developed with full texts. My advice to you is to take your Scripture text and develop the points that the Holy Spirit places upon your heart. Secure several Bible commentaries and read what they have to say about the text. These can be obtain possibly from your pastor or library. At that point work a rough draft of your message. With that in place begin to look for illustrations to drive home your major points. This is where the internet will give you the most help. The easiest thing is to do a google search on "sermon illustrations." This should supply several sites which will give you a number of topical illustrations that you can use. Once you have these in place work out a final draft. Some people prefer to take this into the pulpit, others perfer just an outline. I prefer an outline. I find that a full text has the tendency to keep me stationary and my congregation asleep. An outline gives me more freedom to move. However, this is a personal preference. Just remember that sermon preparation is just half the battle. Delivery is what will leave a lasting impression. For that reason, develop, finalize and deliver the message in a way that will give you the most confidence and this will allow the Spirit to work freely through you.

Personally, I would never use video clips with a sermon. While these may be good for small group Bible studies I feel they lose their impact in a larger, more diverse congregational setting.

I am actually at Bible College studying Youth Ministry. This is for my preaching class. We are encouraged to use alot of illustrations. I wanted to try a video clip for this time. I probably didn't make myself super clear in my first post. I already have my notes and some recources, I just have to throw it all together, I was hoping for some other kind of visual illustration. Thanks for your help though.

Good luck.I would agree though that the use of video might not be too helpful,
it could distract from what you are trying to say. From what I learned at both
Bible School and College it's best to limit any visual presentation.Try for quality
in your illustrations and not quantity is what I would say.

Thanks for the input. I am not going for like a whole slew of visualizations... I do want quality but I believe that visual aids help grab the attention of the audience as long as it is relevant to the topic. It's good to recieve input from seasoned Christians. I have been taught a bit differently though about my presentation though. I do thank you both though. I think my sermon may be about ready anyway.
