Desirable Qualities

I finally remembered to post this after seeing all the dating posts in the Goof Off forum. My Baptisit Campus Ministry group had the guys and girls split into two groups and go into different rooms to discuss what they looked for in a spouse. There were about 50 guys and 50 girls. The groups listed all the qualities they could think of, and then narrowed the list to five. Keep in mind I do go to a secular college.
Guys:
1. A heart for God
Also honesty, attraction, loyalty, intelligent
Cooking was a close sixth.
Girls:
1. In love with God
Also family-oriented, leader, communicator, self-less
Hygiene was a close sixth.
To the guys credit, there first response was a heart for God while the leader of the girls group said athletic first. I thought I would post this for everyone to think about and discuss.
EDIT: Just in case it's not clear, what they guys want in a girl is listed under guys and vice versa.

Good idea. ^_^ We were cutting-up intially, but the final list was taken seroiusly. My contibution to the long list was 'wise', because I know too many intelligent guys who do very stupid things, by which I mean things that are mentally, emotionally, physically, or spiritually dangerous and destructive. I guess wisdom would be a necessary part of leadership, though, so it's on the short list in a way.

Hmm... qualities I look for:
1) Someone who has a relationship w/ God
2) Personality
3) at lease a few similar interests
4) Someone w/ an open heart (caring)
5) Honest and faithful. That's very important for both the guy and girl. A good relationship will not last without either one.
My top 5 are very important, but I don't have a set in stone list I follow for the other quailities I look for in a mate. Well, because our perferences, likes and dislikes change on a regualr basis- especially while growing up.
Also cooking isn't that important because I'm a decent cook myself.

I gave this question a bit of thought, and I realized that my list, were I to create one, wouldn't change for anyone. That is, I would have a list of things I value in people and no other list. Of course, I don't intend it to matter.
Good thread, Doubleshadow, particularly given the current atmosphere.

I'm somewhat like that. I have a list of qualities/morals that aren't negotiable (ie: belief in God and caring) and will never change- my top 5. I mean, because those are my core beliefs. Then there are other things that I would like them to have, but it's not a must. Like, I would love for them to like anime, but if they dont, whatever. But I agree w/ uc pseudonym, there are some things on the list that aren't negotiable and I think you need to least have some. Without standards of some sort, we would just settle for anyone, and I don't want that. I want someone that is best for me.

This is an interesting thread.
A girl who can cook? Uh-oh. *grabs cook books* I have to start studying! *flips through pages as fast as she can*
*ahem* I now present to you: The Epic Story of the Popcorn Incident
I had a friend who was my dad's guitar student. Every day he would come over to my house and we would play video games for hours. (We liked to bicker over what type of game to play: I was really good at two-player fighting games and he beat me at racing games...so as you can imagine, we had a hard time compromising on what game to play. Eventually we just started playing cooperative-type games, but of course we still found something to argue and tease each other about, lol! It was a really funny friendship because he knew me better than any of my friends ever have, yet in a strange way we never really acknowledged that we were friends...I mean, he saw me at my best and my worst. On the weekends, sometimes he would come over and I would be wearing a Pirates shirt and some old pajama pants with fuzzy pink slippers and my hair tied up in a messy bun. Even if I was really grumpy or really hyper, it didn't seem to matter. It was one of those "rain or shine" type of things, something I could count on no matter what, which was cool. I wish I wouldn't have taken our friendship for granted as much as I did though.
After four years, I moved 3,000 miles away and we have lost contact. I am afraid if I send him a letter his sister's evil rotten boyfriend might find it and give him a hard time. I am heart-broken and blah blah blah...yeah. Anyway, back to the story!)
So, we were playing video-games and it was getting later in the day and so I thought I would get a snack. We both decided some popcorn would be good, so I went out to the kitchen and grabbed a package of microwave popcorn and chucked it in the microwave. You thought that was it? WRONG! After three long minutes, it went *bing!* Guess what happened? When I opened the microwave...nothing happened. Something smelt really burnt, but that was about it. When I got it out of the microwave, I set it on the stove. Just when I was about to open it...
VVWHHOOOOOM! This big cloud of smoke came billowing out of the popcorn, and suddenly the aroma of...really burnt something...wafted into the kitchen, throughout the dining room, and into the living room. (our house was really small) Being my curious self, I poked it, and sure enough, a big puff of smoke came out of the bag. It looked like a little dragon that said "Act III" on it. Haha!
Then I noticed that I had forgotten to take off the wrapper...and it was melted all over the microwave! Oh the horror! T_T
Yep. I can't even make microwave popcorn. And I haven't even started on the spaghetti...ohh...*painful memories*
