What's the best one that you've read. I only read fanfics from anime series that I've completed. On a whole I read mostly Eva fanfics...But yeah I'd say that the best fanfic that I've ever read is "Where I Belong, by Huhn" on Fanfiction.net It's a Nadesico fanfic and it's so good that I veiw it as what happens in between the series and the movie. It's PG-13 for violence and some cussing...But it's very excellent. Read it if you've watched the series!

"Blargh!" by Darth Tasuki. Fanfiction of the Dragon Knights variety. It was taken off FF.net a long time ago but I printed a copy to keep forever and ever. ^_^ In a close 2nd would be Pretty When You Lie by Aishuu, which is such a sad Tactics fanfic.

I nominate
The Naruto Primer by Link and Luigi. It's Naruto written in the style of those old Wayside School books. Awesome on a stick. Toward the end I would wager that the parody author has a better grasp on the characters than even Mr. Kishimoto.
If you don't want to read all 200 chapters (but believe me, it's worth it) you can check out
Carnivale. It's an Azumanga story that stays true to the spirit of the show. Like The Naruto Primer, in some places it's better than the original.

Oh, I know I've read some good stuff, but it's gone right out of my head...
Ah, here we are. I tend to stay away from fanfic because I value what little sanity I have left, but
this is really funny. Vash is so perfectly in character that I almost died the first time I read it. Spoilers for Trigun episode 22, "Alternative".
Ooh, I remember this really awesome adorble one...hold on a sec...
this, "Snow and Sand". It was so sweet I felt like crying. Spoilers for Trigun episode 17, "Rem Saverem".

I generally dislike fan fics for several reasons. For instance, they take away the orginal meaning of the series.
Though one I do like alot is a RK fan fic of when Kenshin first arrives in Kyoto during Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal and shows first-hand the change that goes through him such as friends he makes, his first kill and how that changes him, relationships good and bad and so forth.
Descent into Maddness
I've also down some fan fics back in the day. Some I clean up.

It's true, there's a ton of bad fan fanction out there. But nobody says you have to read the bad stuff.

The only fanfics I've ever really followed were those at sygnus.org (FF4, mild language and violence). I've tried reading stuff at fanfiction.net before, but a lot of it either bores me or makes me cringe...>.< I hate the thought of getting into something I like only to find out it's shounen-ai or something...

Yeah I agree that there's a lot of crappy fanfics. It's pretty weird though because my favorite fanfics are almost all from Evangelion which the anime is just pretty good to me. I'm not going to say more on that though because it's forbidden...This Escaflowne fanfic called "Along Came Prince Charming" (also PG13) is quite good...I'm a sucker for the romance fics...Especially ShinjiXRei from Eva. If I see that what I'm reading is shoujo/shounan ai I'll just exit it.

I really like Impossible Fantasy by Dyaoko. She changed her name but I can't remember it.....It's one of the better Prince of Tennis fics out there.

^___^ I've been trying hard to find good Prince of Tennis fanfics lately, however many of them are either off-topic or out of character, or they are the explicit imaginations of the authors own strange fantasies gone astray...I'm even considering resorting to writing my own, but i like reading better...I did manage to find some really intriguing ones under the rest. ^__^

Does this include non-anime fanfics? If so, I'd prolly say Falling Feels Like Flying by Halley42. It's a Doc Ock-centric Spiderman fanfic, set shortly after the Spiderman 2 movie. It starts off kinda slowly but it soon picks up the pace and heads off in it's own direction. Mostly, I really, really like the author's writing style, she's very descriptive and quirky, and the main character Escher is very....odd, in a cool way. I could seriously see the thing as a movie. Linkies:

Other than that, I usually tend towards goofy humor fics and crazy, highly improbable crossovers.

Oh gosh- I know of this one collaboration Anime Fan-fic that I read a zillion years ago, before I was really into manga or anything. It was a take-off of Celebrity Death-Match (that gross old clay-mation show they used to have), but it was called Anime Death-Match. It was Hilarious. I fell off my seat laughing soooo many times. I googled it, and found the link again:
http://www.mediaminer.org/fanfic/view_st.php/10941. It's really long, tho'.

*sry for gravedigging..*
I read a really funny RK fanfic awhile back... it was called Getting On with Your Life. However, it seems to have been taken off Fanfic.net. What I REAALLLY REALLY hate in fanfics though is unannounced MAJOR spoilers. Guess where I found out about a super major spoiler in furuba relating to Akito... why, that's right!! In a rather badly written fanfic that it had absolutely nothing to do with. It was like it was randomly dropped in there just to bug me! Ugh! Also, on fanfic.net at least, the quality of stories seems to have decreased alot. I remember reading AWESOME digimon fanfics on fanfic.com OOOH so long ago. The majority of them were well planned out, had good plots, believable characters, and didn't focus ONLY on useless romance. Sure, more often than not there was romance, but it was well done with believable circumstances. *sigh* Those were good fanfics.

Yeah I hate random spoilers...That's why I almost always only read fanfics from series that I've completely finished (I'm up to about 23 series so far.) There are some good Trigun and Escaflowne fics out there...

I read WAY to much fanfiction to just pic one favorite. I could recommend a few good authors/stories though on certain shows/games.
However, 90% of all the fanfiction I read is mushy gooey romance.....
Hey, gotta kill the lonliness somehow.

Yeah I know what you're talking about Azier...I'll go on fanfiction binges and read them nonstop for like a week at a time, then I'll just stop reading them for a while...And start back up later...You should recommend some of your favorite authors. Yeah I know what you mean about reading the mushy romance ones...Most of the ones I read are those...

My favorite non-anime fanfic is The Doctor and the Enterprise.
It's a fun Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover that takes place in the final
year of Kirk's historic 5 year command of the original Enterprise.
The gist of the story is that the Enterprise is some how thrown into the
Whoinverse and meet up with the companionless Fourth Doctor.
(possibly some time between the end of The Invasion of Time and
the start of The Ribos Operation.)
Needless to say a lot of Daleks!
I don't know about anyone else but I also do a lot of fanfic writing myself.
My favorite thing is to try to come up with ideas for crossovers.
For example one idea that I started on is called:The Girl Who Fell From
The Sky.Hoshi from Enterprise winds up in Japan's Warrior Era with
Inuyasha,Kagome and co.
I only wrote out a few pages worth.
The overall idea going would be that eventually Hoshi would be revealed to be KAGOME's future reincarnation...and now that I have given you all a
headache!
