"And Saint Attila did raise the hand grenade up on high, saying..."
Oh, wrong quote, sorry.
"And Kaligraphic then posted a thread, wherein all who were interested could gather for the solving of riddles. Each would solve in turn, and one would not turn to his neighbor and say 'know ye the answer?' for most would be stumped."
Translation: it's a riddle thread. We had one some time ago, but it's kind of stale now. Anyway, I don't think anyone came up with the answer to this riddle:
Ten men's strength.
Ten men's length.
One man can pick it up.
No man can stand it up.
(Once each riddle is solved, anyone can post the next riddle.)

It seems ILoveArt has got it - the answer is rope.
Okay, here's the next one:
A barrel of water weighs twenty pounds.
What must you add to make it weigh fifteen?

A man with the same volume as five pounds of water! The excess will flow out and the man can leave and it will be 5 pounds lighter!

I like Piloswine's answer, it sounds quite educated, though Mr. Smartypant's makes sense too. Ack, riddles really make my head hurt

Mr. SmartyPants has got the answer. You must add holes to make the barrel weight 15 pounds.
In honour of these holes, I present the next riddle:
Holes at the top.
Holes at the bottom.
Holes in the middle.
But still it holds water.

I'd say a human body.
Holes in your head, a belly button hole in the middle, and... well yeah

Either a sponge, or a can full of holes in a zero gravity environment.

It's a sponge.
Hmm,
Here's an old one:
As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives;
Every wife had seven sacks,
Every sack had seven cats,
Every cat had seven kits;
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were there going to St. Ives?

One person was going to St. Ives. The polygamist and his wives were just standing in the road.
Here's a tough one. Why is a raven like a writing desk?
(It's a bit of a trick question, but the answer is a pun)

There is an answer. Someone wrote an answer for the answerless riddle. The answer is simple. If you want to answer it do not drag and scroll over the spoiler. If you want it spoiled...go right ahead. But it's not fun.
The answer is....
....because Poe wrote on both.
