Bah. Who needs sakura blossoms?

Over here at [REDACTED], the Monarch butterflies are starting to migrate. Multitudes of them! It looks like there are 4 butterflies for every cubic foot of empty space.

Just think of them as orange sakura petals that fall up.

<.< I have lots of butterflies in my area, too. Everytime I'm in the car, I'm scared they're gonna get smeared against the windshield or something horrible like that.

Where I live, you get these Asian lady bugs that bite and hurt and get everywhere and if you mash them, the smell is worst then a skunk an lasts for days!

I need and love cherry blossoms. I just hate that I miss the cherry blossoms festival in Macon, Ga this year.

Are the asian ladybugs anything like June beetles??

We had TONS of cicadas last year >< You could hear them buzzing from inside the house. We had a few trees outside, and if you threw a rock in any of them swarms of them flew out... they were kinda annoying, but fun to drop on people (girls) during our class trip >:3

I love cicadas! We don't get heaps of them here, but we do get quite a few. So far I've counted hmm... about four or five different types of cicada that we get: big black ones, big green and black ones, small black ones, small red ones, and I once found a yellow one... but I think it was part of the red species. <-random NZ information.
We get quite a few Monarch butterflies here, but the season for them is sorta ending -tho I do have a fat caterpillar on a swan plant that I'm keeping an eye on. They're so squidgy and cute! We also have a few cherry blossom trees around -but I'm not sure if they're the same type as the Japanese ones. These ones are white with a bit of pink on them.
Just think of them as orange sakura petals that fall up.

 I'd never thought of it like that before...

I think those would be Yoshino cherry trees, I think. Because, I have only seen the white one with a bit of pink in them, where I live and are the ones that Macon, Ga has in their city.

the Monarchs aren't quite here yet. I think they'll probably start showing up sometime in April though.

cicadas...ewwwww. I hate those things. they're so big and ugly and noisy. @_@

here in Oklahoma, we have a lot of these trees called Bradford Pears (I think). they bloom white in March, and man, they're beautiful. that's our "sakura" ^^ petals everywhere! they've all pretty much grown their leaves now though. I have some pictures; I should post some.

oookay...attachments apparently don't work.

Isn't "sakura blossoms" a redundant statement because it would literally be "cherry blossom blossoms"? No need to give a dillemma between one sort of
beauty given by YHWH and another.

Lorentz Force wrote:Butterflies? What are they, sticks of butter with wings?
Any of various insects of the order Lepidoptera, characteristically having slender bodies, knobbed antennae, and four broad, usually colorful wings.

Word History: Is a butterfly named for the color of its excrement or because it was thought to steal butter? It is hard to imagine that anyone ever noticed the color of butterfly excrement or believed the insect capable of such theft. The first suggestion rests on the fact that an early Dutch name for the butterfly was boterschijte. The second is based on an old belief that the butterfly was really a larcenous witch in disguise. - The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition

Ghost's Commentary: Puts new perspective on Bart Simpson's remark that "No one ever suspects the butterfly", doesn't it?

Just watch your stuff around those subtle black magic weilding thieves and you should be fine.

Interestingly, the term for "cherry" is based off of "cherry blossom" - sakulanbo = cherry, which is quite the opposite of what we say.

*glares at everyone while sweating in 82 degree heat*
The only way you can tell the season in Florida is by the amount of old people crowding I-95. But seriously- when it's fall, it's very nice out. In winter, it's cool and dry. In the spring, it's usually windy. And in the summer, it's wet and hot. Sigh...
