Is anime against God?

hey... i'm misaou. I am a very big fan of anime, and I have spent a lot of time trying to become a Manga artist, and hope to one day move to Japan and try to make a living that way, since I enjoy it so much. But I read a lot of articles, and they all said that anime is against God, one of them which brought me to this site. I am very concerned because it has been something I've wanted to do with my life ever since I can remeber, but I honestly wouldn't know what to do if God didn't want anime in my life. Of course, i stay away from profain animes, but does God not approve of anime? I am an insane animje fan, but I don't want to disobey God's word if he doesn't appeove of it, since I know what most animes aim for. I'm so confused...
could someone give me a hint or something?

Anime is like many things in life- it can be good, and it can be bad. Television is not against God, but there are television programs that are that way. The same goes for movies, or music, or literature. Anime can be very good- there are some mangakas here who have started Christian mangas and anime that are really great. But, unfortunately, some people take anime and turn it into something bad- like the porn that anime and manga is sometimes generalized as. Anime is not against God- it is neither good nor evil by itself- it all depends on who is making it.

No, it's not against God, at least not any more than movies are against God. Goodness...there are even Christian anime. If "Anime" meant "Satan", that would be of course different...but "Anime" just means "Animation" in Japanese. And no, animation in general is not evil. Some of it is, though. But that's the same as movies: there are good movies, there are bad movies. A few bad movies doesn't make all movies bad.
However, some good Anime might lead to bad Anime, so you need to be careful and keep everything in perspective. Sometimes people are convicted, so make sure you stay in tune with the Holy Spirit, even though most people are convicted because they have a false view of Anime.

Ah, no, it's not stupid--don't worry. ^_^
Really, I think all of us have wondered before if anime was bad.

I think you are, from your name...that's one of the good anime/manga (especially manga) out there. ^_^)

Anime and manga are both simply art forms. As such, they are neutral. Their content can then be for or against God. I haven't really seen any anti-Christian anime. Some of them have content that is questionable or that a Christian should be careful about. Some (hentai) Christians should absolutely stay away from. But I have yet to see any that are explicitly against Christianity.

Yup, I'm just gonna back what they said.
The turn 'anime' in America just refers to the Japanese style of animation. This can be used for good or bad. Too often, the bad gets noticed above the good. There are so many steriotypes, such as "All anime is violent" or "All anime is porn." These aren't right. Granted, some are, but there's a whole lot of good anime/mangas out there. We see a lot of objectionable content in some anime, probably because less than 2% of Japan's population consists of Christians/Catholics. Our cultures are very different. I think it would be so awesome to see a Christian movement in Japan, and I think a great way would be to do it through the media, such as anime/manga. This is something I've thought about a lot. For many years I've had the desire to go to Japan. I also enjoy trying to draw manga, though I don't think I'm that good. Anyways, I think it's great that you have a passion for anime/manga as well as one for Christ. That's awesome. I know He can use you to do great things.
And no question is a stupid question. You're always welcome to ask questions or talk about whatever. Hope this helps!

i wont speak for everybody here, but i will speak on what ive noticed. first of all, japan isnt a christian nation. its mainly shinto/budist. they know of the bible, and write up storylines and try to add biblical themes to things (obvious series would be Evangelion or X) that could seem offensive. there's also stuff like Trigun, in which wolfwood in tears asks for Gods forgiveness as he's about to die.
i look at anime with an artistic viewpoint (spare hentai, thats so not cool). i dont take anything they're telling in their stories to try to sway my mind, or have the director of a series try to make me think God sucks or something. i take whats pressented at base value, and dont give themes much consideration. i'm sure people could go nuts and taboo random themes anime has; but i think it all comes down to the level of conviction you recieve while/after/whenever you view certain kinds of stories. if its on your heart that you feel strongly against something, best to stay away from stories you feel go against what your convictions and what you believe.

It seems to me that most people who tend to be radically anti-anime have either NOT seen anime or else have only seen one or two out of context scenes or else read one of those anti-anime sites you can find on the internet and don't bother to
do any further research.
