Uhh, i think i posted this in the right place. Its for a manga, but not one that is out (or probably ever will be), and this thread isn't really about the manga anyway, it's a request. Basically, i would like to know some (actually as many as i can find) Japanese names (please, (if its even possible) don't give them with the Japanese writing characters). Also, if anybody knows a website that translates english to japanese that would be awesome, or a place that sells a book on it. Oh, and if possible, i would also like to know what the name means. Well, i hope i posted this in the right place and someone is able to help. I hope i put it in the right place (sorry CAA staff if i messed up!). Thanks to any who can help

ShiHi's given a GREAT site there. I strongly recommend bookmarking it. Especially if you are a writter. You can quickly find a "good enough" name for a character, and you don't have to break the flow of your writing style.

There is a book of Japanese names (
Japanese Names: A Comprehensive Index By Characters And Readings) by P. G. O'Neil. It contains both surnames and given names, while many names websites will only list given names.
A website that is not comprehensive but still a good resource is this one:
http://www.gaminggeeks.org/Resources/KateMonk/
The database contains both first and last names for a number of different people groups and languages; it is also fairly easy to navigate, free of advertisements, and contains a great deal of related information.
If you want to go straight to the Japanese area of the site, it is here:

Whoever came up with the meaning for Ryoko definitely wasn't thinking of
Tenchi's Ryoko!
Uh...Kaoru's a BOY's name?
