you know what's interesting? the Tsunami of 2004. It only hit the nations that persecute and kill Christians. Yet... the only groups who went to their aid? not humanists, atheists, bhudists, hindus, mormons, agnostics, trancendentalists, or muslums... only Christians went. Ironic, no?

Just here to remind everyone to keep their replies loving and informational---the last thing we need is to deepen the hatred of Christianity around the world by openly bashing those that persecute us. Paul writes in Corinthians we are to bless those that curse us, and endure persecution.
That being said, please share any statistics you know of and where you found them.

I don't know those figures off-hand, but perhaps you should consider signing up at the Voice of the Martyrs' website at
http://www.persecution.com
They may have what you are looking for and a whole lot more.

I agree with Termyte. Voice of The Martyrs is a must read publication. It would have the stats that your looking for. If you want to study up on the history of Christian martyrdom check out the books; "Foxes Book Of Martyrs" and "The New Foxes Book Of Martyrs." I'd recommend the latter (it's a whole lot easier to read.)

Foxe's Book of Martyrs is at best a questionable resource. It was written to a great extent as propaganda during the English reformation and directed against Catholics. These days it is not generally regarded as a historically accurate source for that time period.

I know that the New Foxes Book Of Matyrs is pretty acurate at least...Well the second half of it is about dead on. I haven't actually read the original so I'll give you that, but I'm pretty sure that the new one is pretty acurate.

Why, what's the difference?

Well I know that the original was written around the 14 to 15 hundreds...Can't remember exactly when though...I don't exactly agree with Technomancer about it being faulty but I haven't studied up on it enough...But I know that the new version falls in line almost exactly with Voice Of The Martyrs which is very trustworthy. I believe that the new one is an update of the old one and has been made easier to read...And it has an updated version of persecution from the 1900 onward which line up with all that I've read about persicution of christians nowdays.

World Gospel Mission, a missions agency where I go to school, had a service about the persecuted church a few weekends ago. They said that in China alone a Christian is martyred every 3 minutes for about 450 a day... and that a number in the thousands convert to christianity daily as well. I believe that they got their info from voice of the martyrs but it's incredible how God works so much in these areas that make the least room for Him and the extreme faith of beleivers there. Anyway the persecuted church and missionaries within those countries could certainly use our prayers.
