Yee haa...Texas calls

Well, just when I'm getting ready to spend Spring Break with my cool friends, two of which are back from their out of state duties (one goes to college in Maryland, the other is in the U.S. Navy), my mom tells me that we're going to Texas to spend Easter with my dad, sis, and Grandma (dad and sis are there to get everything ready for the move).

I'm sure I'll have fun, but wish I could bring my friends with me. Oh well, at least i found an anime store near where my Grandma lives, so that will be 600% fun. And the malls rock too.

Guess what makes me kind of upset about this is that, while I'm trying to get the money and stuff together so I can stay behind IN Ohio, if things don't work out I may end up moving to Texas with my family, in which case this Spring Break will have become one of the few precious moments I have left with some of the guys. :: shrugs:: oh well, it's like Michael W. Smith sings "Friends are friends forever, if the Lord's the Lord of them..."

Good gosh, I'm a guy and I like malls!? O.o

Oh well, at least I'm not alone in that...my other brothers and I go to the malls too; mainly for the anime and sweet food.

Don't forget to apply for an immigration green card before entering the country of Texas. And if you are lucky they may be holding a lottery soon for citizenship. Don't forget to apply for an immigration green card before entering the country of Texas. And if you are lucky they may be holding a lottery soon for citizenship. Its great to know there are believers still being called to foreign missions though. But remember the language there will take a good 4 years or longer to learn.

I just got done explaining to the Texas State Legislature on Foreign Affairs why we should NOT assasinate you for your blasphemous comments. I'll expect a hefty "thank you" in cash, check, or money order. :lol:

Sorry, yes. The Texas National Tourism Board. Just National Tourism Board would imply that Texas is dependent on other states to consider itself relevant as an existing entity. Any Texan knows that's not true.

I've got relatives in Texas.It seems that in my grandfather's side of my dad's family Texas is like some vast vacuum cleaner or magnet that attracts 'em to Texas.

I'm not sure what disappoints me more, OldPhil and Doc's ruthless comments towards my home state, or the lack of other Texans in here to back me up. Whatever happened to "remember the Alamo!" and "Defend Texas!" guys? Jim Bowie is rolling in his grave thanks to you.

Sigh. And Doc, don't make me live up to my great-grandfather's career. He was a Texas Ranger, you know.

Ashley (and my fellow Texans),

I'm sorry. I meant no offense. My mouth gets me in more trouble than I thought. I would say that since I was born in Texas, I'd be given some lee way. That apparently isn't true though, since almost every time I go back to visit, my allergies go haywire and I get sick. I think it's Texas' revenge for me moving way back after I was born (or becoming "Chicago"-ized; lived there for 9 years and conformed to my surroundings).

Any other things I should be aware of? ;-)

And btw Ashley...remember who was it who offered that GREAT quote about not messing with Texas? Hmm?

I strongly support Texas. Why not? It's given us two sweet Presidents. And, here's a little known fact, if it weren't for Texas we wouldn't have had anime. Why? Texas was the birthplace for the anime craze in the U.S. Sure California has taken the title from it now, but Texas used to be the home of all things anime in the U.S. way back when. ;-) Small wonder then that CAA would be founded by a Texan. Rather proper I say.

While your apology is very nice, it didn't need to happen. Sadly you don't quite get my tongue-in-cheek tone across very well on a message board.

Really guys, yes I'm a proud Texan native, born and raised here most of my life. But I don't think it's superior to any other state, I plan on moving out of it in roughly 3 years, and there is NO reason to apologize for making fun of us Texans. We get it all the time, and I think deep down we kinda like it. Why? Because hey, people pick on us, which means they notice us. When was the last time someone made a stereotype about Rhode Island? Case in point.

So yeah, all that to say that really there's no need to puff up Texas or puff up Texans or apologize for some good-natured geographic fun. For my part, I apologize for letting it get that way.

Anyway The Doc what part of Texas are you going to?

I figured you might be joking...but it's happened before when I misinterpreted someone's tone on the net, and as a result had no idea I was really ticking them off until they really let loose. It's hard to understand one's tone when all you're doing is reading something, so I've had to take precautions. -_-

I'm going to Arlington Texas, which is just outside Dallas/Ft. Worth (and close to Spring Creek Barbeque...one of the BEST BBQ restaurants out there, BAR NONE :-) )

Oh yah, and just call me Doc. ;-)

Don't diss Granola too quickly...

After all, if calamity approaches, granola may be all we have left. In which case you don't want to be an enemy of the granola states...they may just make you beg.
Course, they'll do this cause they know Texans are far too proud to beg. ;-)

We don't have a Tourism Board here in oHIo, it seems no one actually wants to come here except, perhaps, the folks down in West Virginia.
