MSN URL virus

There's a url that's getting sent from MSN user to MSN user right now.

It gets sent with the phrase "omg this is so funny 'url.'"

I was stupid and clicked on it because it was from a friend. Stupid... Even stupider that I decided to open the file.

By doing that, it made my MSN freeze, then send that message and url to everyone online on my contact list.

It's spreading right now.

The message takes on the font color and style of the sender, so it blends in. It ends in a gif or pif file extension or something and has the word "cute" in it.

Just be careful of this thing in particular, and of those urls in general. =/

It seems to be a torjan virus.

Scanning now...

Ack, I don't use MSN, but that's so annoying. Why do people do stuff like this? They must be really bored... need to join a sport or something...

I was probably lucky. Trend Micro sent out an alert about some new outbreaks this morning, so my updates were taken care of right off the bat. Then I also have Outlook, which will not download certain file types, a software firewall trained to look at incoming packets, and on top of that a firewall router that has NAT/SPI protection. Also lucky that my ISP puts anything suspicious in Bulk Mail that I have to check by loggng into SBC Yahoo.

But I guess I'll have to be careful since my dad and I send each other URLs all the time...
