needing some help

hey guys.

some time ago there was a thread and it was about some program that allowed you to play your PC games without using the CD itself- except now i can't find it and would appreciate anyone who could point me in the right direction.

then- does anyone know if it is possible to take a song off a music CD, convert it to mp3 format and then be able to play off an mp3 player? cause so far it hasn't worked for me...
