My comments on banned members...

I was reading the banned members thread in the annoucments, and I noticed that a lot of people were banned for posting yaoi/shonen ai pics. I have a few comments on this. I may be a yaoi fangirl BUT this is Christian site and I respect that. I now will not even bring that subject up around here. The people that join just to post pics like that are just wasting this site's bandwith, and make themselves look bad. I don't agree with alot of the stuff here, but I keep my comments to myself. And I must say that the people here are not homophobes, they just don't agree with homosexuality. But they still respect them, and they are not racists who go around killing them. So I guess that's it.

I'm glad that you can respect the opinions of those here without feeling the need to put objectionable content on the boards (we get enough of that from trolls as it is). Thanks for admitting your biases upfront.

I have my convictions, and will not budge on them, and thank you for understanding that.

I think your post deserves an official response, so here it is.

No one on our banned list was banned purely for holding a different opinion. You're welcome to think whatever you want, and privately say whatever you want to say.

Publicly, however, by signing up for CAA, you voluntarily (no one is making you join) give up the right to discuss certain topics that we restrict -- things like the Do Not Discuss list, or hot-button topics like homosexuality and politics -- and that we will edit or remove posts and/or users in our own judgment that we think are willfully against the moral stance of this site. When we ask for things to stop, we mean it. When people demonstrate a disregard for the behaviour and morality norms we cite, we will take appropriate action -- including banning.

If this sounds like censorship, it is. But no one is making anyone use CAA, and there are other forums out there if our rules don't fit with someone's mindset.

AR, despite my disappointment with your interest in yaoi, I'm still happy to note that you are willing to abide by the rules of the site, and I look forward to your presence on these forums in that context.

I'm going to lock this thread so it doesn't turn into a further analysis of specific members who were banned, as that simply becomes airing dirty laundry. The moderation staff is available for PM with any questions.
