*sigh* not even noon yet today, when i was pulling out of the church parking lot, i got in a fender-denter. i thought the person behind me had driven out, and started backing up, but it turned out that she had driven into my blind spot and was also backing up, and we backed into eachother.

her big ol' SUV didn't even get a scratch, but it sure put a nice dent in my bumper :shady: . good thing, it was just slow backing up in a parking lot, and not high speed... (i got to thinking later that, if my car gets dented that bad from an impact i didn't even feel, going around a mile or two an hour, how bad would it crumple if i got in an big accident?? :wow!: quite an incentive for being an insanely careful driver...) and since everything on my car is under my parents' names they are being incredibly nice and taking care of it, basically, all i will have to do is take it to get a repairs estimate.

i got terribly freaked out and was bawling when i called my parents, my dad told me one would think i totalled the car, the way i was carrying on, not just dented the bumper.. but still, that's my baby that has a dent in it... i haven't even had it for a full year yet. :sniffle:

*pictures of the damage that occurred attached, and for reference, yes, that is my hand, (for size purposes, it's around 2 2/3" x 5" at the 'L' of my thumb and forefinger)*

aww man :[ I hate when stuff like that happens. I put a huge dent in my old car when I was trying to back out of a Subway parking lot. my parking spot was by the sign pole and I was trying to keep from hitting the car in the next space, and I accidentally hit this big thick metal pole. I cried -_-

I rear ended someone once at about 35mph. Right across the street, a cop who was writing a ticket was a witness. Luckilly my Insurance covered their claim, but since I was determined to be 51% or more at fault (and I think it's safe to say 90% or more would be more accurate), I got reamed by a rate hike. That was five years ago and only now my rates are starting to recover from that accident.

Man, so uncool :( Well be glad that you are alright and the car is not damaged to the point of no repair. If that where one of my families cars my dad would probobly have me pulling the bumper off to pound it back out.

ah the joys of being a mental-space-cadet. i have horrible driving perspective, i can't judge distances while driving at all. i am very glad no one got in the least hurt. and also very glad that it is fairly easily repaired damage.

OH! Little dents on parent's cars are the worst!

Just a week ago, my parents left me for the first time alone with my siblings *Yay Osaka, right?* And they left me the car! *Once again, woo-hoo!*. I've been driving for two years without any kind of accident. Even a minor one.

And then they leave, and within 12 hours I hit a mail box!! I swear that mail box wasn't there when I started to pull out! It migrated there! It only put a tiny dent on the car, and it didn't hurt the mail box. After that, a guy ran a red light and almost ran me over, and then the car started shaking so hard that I thought something was going to fly off of it.

From this experience, I've decided to never grow up. It seems the whole word wants to flatten me when my parents aren't around.

But enough of that! I totally sympathize with you, Soul. So sorry about the accident. I'll pray it can be repaired easily.

thanks everyone for your sympathy. (i may need more of it when i find out how much it will cost for repairs... *grimace*). accidents suck big time, even if they are only scratches or dents.

i hate parking lots and parking in general... since i grew up in a rural community and the nearest town has only 3000 some people in it, my parents never really taught me how to park beyond vallet (sp?) parking, and due to that and my horrible perspective vision, i have a tough time manuvering in tighter lots, and unless there is a gigantic spot open, i can't parallel park. wah, rather sad. but hopefully, since my little sister will be getting her regular liscense this spring, mom is going to force dad to teach the two of us how to parallel park with rubber/plastic barrels (since it is a bit of a necessity to know how to, especially anywhere with a population over 3000 ;3)

i know how you feel, i was in two minor accidents last year, besides my car getting pretty messed up, i had to pay for the damages, and i got my driving privilage taken away until i am responsible enough to drive safely(i find this rather odd because in both i was going less than 35 mph) when i really go fast nothing happens to me, oh well...
