Anime Expo, anyone?

Ok... so we all post here, and most people know each other pretty well....
so I thought I would throw out the idea of an opportunity for us to meet each other in real life. Now,I know we are on the internet, and there is a possiblity that some of us are wierdo stalkers. But, I think this would be safe as this would (hopefully) be a large group of people. and as long as we want to meet, we might as well have some fun doing it. The Anime Expo (more info at anime-expo.com) is held from Friday July 1st through Monday July 4th, 2005. It will be located at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. (located convieniently across the street from disneyland). Anyways, I know this would be a bit far for lots of you, but maybe it could be a vacation for you? anyways, this is just an idea so please post your opinions!
One more thing! we could have a CAA bible study one or all of these nights!

Sounds like a great idea... But it's difficult to do so.
I would drive all the way out there but that's quite the distance. It's a bit easier for you because you actually live in CA, many here don't. I mean, would you drive all the way to Austin, TX for the Ushicon convention to meet others? Realistically, I doubt you would be able to because it'll be difficult for you to make it. As much as I want to reality sets in; seems a bit difficult both on the wallet and just getting there. I agree, it'll be cool to meet the many members of CAA from around the US. But things like this are always easier in plan/idea then in real life. Kind of like, "easier said then done."
But it's quite difficult journey for many. I wish I could make it, but it doesn't look good for me... I just don't have the money. I mean, if it was anywhere in Texas, I would most likely be there. Sorry.
Good luck, I wish you the best of luck in finding some who will be able to attend. I hope you get a few to go. I know there are a few members here that live in CA.

Just as a safe general reminder, everyone please be very cautious. If you do plan on meeting, do it somewhere open and public for your own safety. Don't agree to meet anyone at there hotel room. Also, I would not advise you to give out your full name, telephone number, or address either on site (PM is up to you).

Well, that depends... If it was an event for the CAA, and lots of us were to be there, and I had 6+ months notice... probably... but I'm wierd like that, I guess.
Also, I'm suprised I didnt bring this up in my first post:
info This is the information on free lodging at AX. Essentually you volunteer in a both to get into AX and stay at the mariot acrross the street for free. I have several friends who have done this last year, and are planning to do so again. I only bring this up because it can help with the cost a bit. However, it doesn't look like anyone thinks this is a good idea, so forget I said anything.
And thank you for the disclaimer, Ashley. I always forget that people can be too trusting, especially when it comes to the internet.

I love volunteer work... >.>;; I've just never been to an anime convention before.. I don't know if I would rather have unguided fun, or volunteer and get to know the background first.. o.o

Well, we'll bump this. I'm looking at going myself; I just don't know what rotation I'll have scheduled in July yet. I should at least be able to go on the weekend.

^^; I'd love to meet up with y'all, but it'd probably be only in passing, since I already have plans for AX. x3 Don't think that makes you exempt from glompings, though. '.' Maybe we should have tags that say 'CAA' that we can put on the other side of our con badges.

My friends are coming from Illinois for the con, and they want me to make sure they don't get lost in the area. If a local like me can manage to get utterly lost, I'm sure they won't stand a fighting chance. xD;

You'd be suprised how often you can run into people... Oh! and for everyone who plans on going... I STRONGLY recomend pre-registering... last year I didn't and ended up spending 8 hours in line just to get in >.<... here's the pre-reg link :

*hugs* xD; I was in that same line, ikimasu. (although I got to the con at 7, so I was only in line 3 hours. >_>; ) I feel your pain.

*squeaks* Eight hours??
Maybe I won't come then ... -_- especially since I'd be driving solo.

The wait was only bad the first day. If you're coming only on the weekends, registration is a breeze. Get there fairly early (when my friend registered, we got there around 8) and it only took ten minutes.

That doesn't make sense. Why would it be less on the weekend? I'd think the weekday would have less people trying to get in ...

Methinks it's because all the hardcore people register the first day of the con, which usually is a Thursday or a Friday, so they can attend all 4 days. I know I did. >.>;

That's because Friday is the first day... People that go for the full-pass often take two days off of work in order to get the most time possible out of thier pass... from what I hear, this is one of the largest anime conventions around.....

Oh, okay. Well, that makes me feel a bit better about it then. So far it seems to be just us three, though (although I think Megumi Tsunami has been to this in the past, and Nuramis has a AX band -- but I haven't seen MT here in some time).

I'm definitely making all the necessary preparations to go in advance (I've been planning this whole thing for a year... every since the last con). All parental approval has been confirmed (not a problem when you're 21 ^_^), funding has been set aside, and my school schedule is almost fully confirmed for that weekend. Now all I have to do is get the dates off of work and factor in the cost of a close hotel room. Still... I'm very excited about going, and any possibility of meeting people there just makes me want to run around the room and go "EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!".
*ahem* Sorry... I tend to get pretty excited about meeting others who like anime. But seriously, if anyone is seriously planning on meeting, pm me. I'm really excited about it! ^_^ I'm gonna try to secure my sn on CAA as my nickname for the convention, if anybody wants to try to ID me.
A quick note on pre-reg lines: I ended up getting there pretty late and the line was a nightmare! What I ended up doing was taking care of the hotel stuff first and hanging out with my roommates, then going to the con. I got to the line at about... 5pm, I think. The line was totally dead. I ended up getting in and out in about 5 minutes. ^_^ I don't know if I'll have the same luck, so I'm thinking about leaving my place at about 5:30am or 6am. I live about an hour from the con anyway. Besides... the traffic was the real nightmare... (I'm 6'3 and I had to spend 3 hours in a Volkswagen Beetle... not a good combo.)

Well... looks like we have a group of four so far.... plus any other friends we have ^_^ and there's still a good 6+ months before it comes around! I for one am looking forward to meeting those who live in the area, as then I could end up with some new friends to hang out with!

Hehehehhe... I know what booth they'll love... it's the "I love pocky" booth.... they sell shirts hats etc. that say "I love Pocky" on a pocky box on the front of them.... I think I'll bring pocky in your place, aka-chan! (^_^)
One question: do you guys prefer the small or the big pocky sticks?

Hey everyone, I'm glad that there's a Anime Expo thread here. I'm totaly going! This will be my 3rd expo, and I love going to each one.
I'd totaly love to meet you all if I could, and I was just thinking about the meeting place. Ikimasu, you know the front court yard, where the gatherings for pictures take place? You think that woudl be good? It's pretty public.
