The following prayer of Saint Francis contains a powerful message:




Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is doubt, faith.

Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light;

Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not as much seek to be consoled as to console;

To be understood as to understand;

To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we are pardoned; It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Saint Francis.... Although I'm not a Catholic it's a good message none the less-- a message to have the lord use us to help others. To show people compassion when they are down, to help the sad feel loved, to give hope to the hopeless. Jesus wouldn't want us to do anything less. Jesus came to this earth to show everyone his compassion and love for it, dieing on the cross for our sins. He set the example for us to follow... This message is a good interpretation and a break down of what Jesus taught. Thanks for the post serena.

and don't fret. Even if we are non-catholic, why would be offended? It is praising God out Lord and creator ^_^

I have heard that prayer before. Positively lovely. Has anyone else heard the song version of it? It is really beautiful.

Yes, the song is also beautiful. Of course, the fact that it has such lovely lyrics certainly doesn't hurt.

I've heard the John Rutter choral arrangement of it, if that's the one you're mentioning.

I agree entirely. It has a beautiful melody line that reflects the lyrical content.
