What does God want me to do?

This is something I wrote down for my blog today and thought I would put it here too. Hope it is helpful.
-------------------------------------------------
I just had a few thoughts about some important things and I'm going to write them down in here before I forget 'em all. I was thinking about knowing what God wants us to do. I have always wondered that. What are your plans for me God? What should I do for you? Well, I was thinking about that the other day and this is the thought that came to mind. It is so simple I can't believe it took me so long to get it. *insert drumroll and dramatic music here* "Live for God today and do what you can right where you
are." ...simple, huh? All we need to do is live for Him right where we are.
I'm not saying God doesn't have any plans for us. But we don't know all His plans for us, so we should just live for Him now and then let Him guide us into new things in His time. I don't have to be some big, fancy person and go to a foreign country to find something to do for God. If I just take my house, the people I know, and even something as small as the surrounding mile area, there is so much work to do, I will never finish it. I'm not saying we should never get involved in foreign missions. I would like to do a little work in Japan one day myself. But Live for God now, right where you are, and serve Him with all your heart.
Take a moment to think. What can you do for Him where you are? Are there friends who need Jesus? Is there a lonely person who needs to be loved? Does your family need Jesus? Are there people who need to be helped? Is there someone who needs to be encouraged? I could go on for quite a while with different things. But take some time to pray and ask God what He wants you to do.
You don't have to be a pastor or have some Master's Degree of Theology or whatever to live for God. God uses totally ordinary people, like most of you reading this, all the time to change the world. "I can't change the world!" Your right, you can't. God never asked you to change the entire world, but live for Him where you are and do what you can there. If we would all just simply live for Him where we are, that right there would be the entire world many times over.
So to sum it all up: Just live for God right now. Be faithful in what you already have. Pray and ask God to show you what you can do right where you are. And don't say there is nothing to do, 'cause there is more than enough.
