I was posting on here with my teacher's computer one day (WITH permission) and she noticed that I was on a forum and was wondering: Do mods and admins make any profit off of this site?

well...I think the site may make a profit through advertising..but I doubt the admins get paid...

Nope, we are all volunteers at this non-profit organization. We pay for the servers out of our own pockets, and none of us get paid--at least not on this side of heaven.
And if you're wondering about the store, all of the goods we sell are at base-price...that means that's the minimum cafepress charges so we don't make any profit off that either.

What amazes me is that all of you, all the admins and behind the scenes staffers do such a great job for no profit...Keep it up!

Wow. I kinda had an idea about this but didn't know for sure. Thats great. This christmas showed me how much fun giving can be.
A server must be expensive. You guys are great for doing all this.
Well you'll have a bundle on the other side of heaven, and hopefully that is still a while off

I want to express a big "thank you" to the mods for keeping pop-ups and ads off CAA because of how they pay the server fees. Do you accept donations, by the way?

Hmmmm. Cool messenger bag. I wonder if they ship internationally. Oooh, they do! Too bad I overspend this Christmas - maybe a few months from now. But really, shipping and such isn't bad. Cool.

No, we do not accept donations for a variety of reasons, although an important one would be the large amount of bookwork we would be responsible for if we did accept that kind of funding. Thanks for considering it, though.

"Because son,
every day is Childrens day!"
wouldn't everyday be like... admins day? If we don't appreciate them or if we go against their rules. They punish us

Not quite. While we do draw a line where getting smart/mouthy/rude with the staff can lead to punishment, CAA is one of the most lax places around for that. Most sites, you even sneeze wrong near an admin and they will ban you. The admins/mods here take a LOT of abuse, slaps in the face, slurs, comments, and taunting by members before they are banned for it. For better or for worse...sometimes that only creates more problems later on and I think sometimes people either take us for granted or don't listen. But we do like to try to give most people a second chance. It's not like you have to worship us "colored names" or we ban you. Not at all. We would just ask that you be civil to us and show some basic courtesy. I know that's probably not what you meant, Mr. Smartypants, but I felt like clarifying that up a bit.

...though if you truly want to donate, give your money to people who really need it. Those suffering from the recent earthquake, for example. Even much closer to home there are many organizations that do great good but are strapped for money.

wow, a store! I was among the many who were oblivious to this. Now though, I may start to get stuff once and a while.
Mods and Admins, Once again- Thank you for keeping this place nice and squeeky clean!

Better yet, take your money you would have given to those organizations, join up with them and use it directly to help those hurt by the earthquakes... They'll get the money and more workers... Find the right org, I'm sure they'll appreciate it (as will the people hurt in the earthquakes) I'd really like to do something like that. I just hope my YWAM base is open to sending a team.
