this site has a lot of information about the origins of St. Nicholas/Santa Claus, and I just thought you all might find it interesting. it's sad how cheap this tradition has become.

IIRC, St. Nicholas has a commemoration in my church on 12/6.

Thanks for sharing this site, Shiroi. There's a lot of interesting information on there, not just about St. Nicholas, but history in general. ^_______^ thanks

Sorry. I tend to be behind the times with computers, so I have a habit of thinking that if *I* know something, it must be common knowledge

That's cool info. Who wants to volunteer as CAA's St. Nicholas this year? We can sit on his lap and take pictures!

My mom is German, so during Christmas we still celebrate some of the German traditions (especially good cookies :thumb: ). One of them is that on Dec. 6 Nickolaus comes with candy for the good children and switches for the bad ones. Then on Christmas Eve, the "Christkind" (Christ child) gives presents to all the children.
